-   -   How to make a custom rom using Helmi's AKU 3.3 ROM Kitchen (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=2063)

It's in the kitchen, but it must not be wired in right, as it's not in the rom that gets built, assuming this builds the same rom as the 3.3 we got, which its supposed to do - sigh.

Have not looked at any of this yet. Work work work... hate that :p

It seems to work on my kitchen-built rom. I haven't fully tested it nor do I have a laptop with BT, but when I connected and plugged in my laptop over USB, my laptop got a new network adapter and got an IP address. I should have disabled the wifi to see if the sharing works.

You do have to run the Internet Sharing app twice though. You'll get an error the first time.

Hmm, I can test it now with my work laptop. Give me a couple minutes.

I can confirm that running the internet sharing app twice gets it to actually run. However, I don't have my laptop here either, so I can't give it a try.

Well, since it's a work laptop, there seem to be some restrictions on using it when not connected to a Lan. I think the GPO is restricting it to using the work proxy, which is inaccessible from outside.

I can, however, confirm that I can ping www.yahoo.com and www.ppcgeeks.com from a command prompt while tethered.

Helmi_c, is it possible and are there instructions for dumping a rom into the kitchen? Or are the kitchens hand assembled from extracted .nba files?

yes, It's in the kitchen you just need more and mix recipe to make it more tasty then mine, I can't explore more with Apache rom, since I dont hv the device, as u can see my rom is kinda virgy one so much thing can be done, so user with apache device in hand should cook better then I did, well there must be trial and error time, but trust me, its worth every error, go adventure...:)

Helmi_c, thanks for the info. It wasn't so much that I was bored, but rather that I already have a custom rom using the other method. I was just wondering if there was an automated way to break it down into the packages to make it easier for other people to add stuff to their roms.

finster869 01-29-2007 05:02 PM

Can someone who has cooked their own rom via kitchen let me know if they are able to turn off data services via the comm manager. Whenever I try, it starts itself right back up.
