Failed to initialize camera

Hi everyone,

I'm a new member here. I have a PPC 6700. All of a sudden my camera has stopped working and it gives me the following error:

"Failed to initialize camera. 36001:100:1"

This phone is not on warranty anymore. I'm just wondering if anyone here knows of a solution or anything to try. I tried using another software with the camera but it wasn't able to start the source.

I heard on another forum that it might be because I don't have enough room on a MiniSD card because I set it to that or something although I don't even have a MiniSD card and the weird thing is that it did this before but than worked again.

I've tried a soft and hard reset, I've also updated to Windows Mobile 6, which didn't fix the problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks and sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I was able to use a friend's MiniSD just a second ago and that didn't solve the problem. Another problem I have is that the data and time gets reset everytime I soft reset the phone.

Since you already tried different software and it did not fix.....it could be starting to fail and stop working in the future all together.....the intermitt problems are the hardest to solve....it could also be a cold soilder joint, the camera board not seated properly on the mother board...loose connections..etc...

Thanks for the response, I've opened up some phones before but I'm wondering where I could get some sort of tool to get it open?

Here is a great link on "HOW TO" disassemble the 67

It would be awesome if you could get a hold of another camera board assy to swap to see if you have a bad camera board.

That link is great. I was searching around for camera parts and I found a thread on another site where someone took out there camera. After they took it out they showed what the phone said. Guess what "Failed to initialize camera. 36001:100:1", so it must be a hardware issue. I'm going to try and take the phone apart to see if there are any loose connections.

I wanted to update everybody about my situation. So I took apart the phone a bit and I found out that camera unsnapped from where it was. I snapped it back in and voila! It worked. That's for the help here, I'm very happy :)

It must have came loose when I dropped it once. Very happy :) lol

I searched up about this and there was a bug or something. I cannot find the patch for it though.

What you don't watch Full House? Haha just kidding. I should have mentioned it but I thought if I did that than everyone would have just thought busted hardware, next thread.

Anyways I found the thread about the date and time reseting:

Wanted to update that this fixed the date and time issue I was having as well. Two birds with one stone :)

Joining this forum was the best thing I've ever done.

I know the camera on the phone was broken and you were working on it but you didnt happen to use another camera to take any pics did you. Others may have wanted to see that (including myself).

I used the pictures and how-to here but I just did the opposite.

Thats great they worked for you but I was more about how the cam was broke and you maybe took a before and after shot of the cam on the board.

Re: Failed to initialize camera

if you look at the link in post 5, it shows a connector that tends to come loose with jarring. it dosn't fit real tight from what i've read. perhaps that was the problem.

Okay, maybe this will help. What happened was the camera module, which is the item circled in the blue was unplugged from the item in the red. All you have to do is match up the piece on the other side of the camera to that piece circled in the red and push it in.
