1x Data connection (Bell Mobility)
I am a Bell Mobility customer who wants to take advantage of their "unlimited 1x" (no EVDO) plan (I don't care about the speed, their prices for EVDO are ridiculous). Now, their site says the phone is preconfigured, and what their rep told me, but the phone wants me to create a connection, asking for a phone # to dial, and so on. I heard about this #777 and the username/password, is that how it should really authenticate? If it is, then how do the "simple" phones (normal mobile browser) able to get 1x data without this? Is the "simple phone's mobile browser" way of authenticating, different from 6700 would use for 1x?

Re: 1x Data connection (Bell Mobility)
Setting/Phone/Service Tab....do you see "Mode of Operation"? if you dont....you need to do a hack.

Re: 1x Data connection (Bell Mobility)
If you really want to force 1x:
Edit at own Risk!!!! HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting Change the option HiddenPreferenceMode from 1 to 0 Then go to Settings/Phone/Service Tab and check in the list, "Mode of Operation" should be at the bottom. You have 3 choices, Hybrid, EVDO, and 1X. Once you have checked the box and hit ok, you will need to softreset, and then the phone should switch to 1x only. Dont know how Bell works, but us Sprint users dial #777. |
