Is there a way to make a program or application quick launch
Is there an easy way to make programs or applications executable by putting them in the start menu or even softkey reallocation, that are not bundled with win CE or do not come with a automatic installer?
I assume this has been covered; if so please provide a link |
With a file explorer you could copy the .exe to Windows\Start Menu.
You can use a registry editor to edit the soft keys. The left one is HKCU/software/microsoft/today/keys/112 I will have to look to see there the right one is. |
To change the right soft key you need to do this:
go to HKCU/software/microsoft/today/keys there add a directory called 113 (just like the 112 that is there) then in the 113 directory add these two strings Default:"the name you want displayed" Open:"the path to the .exe file you want opened" Basically it should look just like the keys in the 112 directory. You could probably even copy and paste them and then change the values. |
WM New Menu gives u a easier method to change softkeys ;)

Thank you colonel the first option to just put it in the start menu worked perfectly.
And I know I will want the soft key trick for latter when I need a fast acting application. Thank you very much for taking the time to post :) |
If I want to take out the flashlight and revert back to the original (notifications?) use for this area, what do I set this to?
|
just delete the 113 key
|
Only the 112 key existed. When I deleted it... well, it didn't like that too much. I installed Wm5newMenu (spelling?), and it sorted itself out.
It seems when I had the VJCandelixxx, the Flashlight was the only thing occupying the left key. If I got a reminder in Calendar, I'd hear a notice, but the Reminder would not replace the Flashlight text. I'm curious if your flashlight works like that for Calendar Reminders.? |
Well, any time I have a notification, the left soft key changes to "Notification". If you press it, it will bring up whatever pending notifications you have until they are all dismissed. Then it will go back to Flashlight.
