People not posting customs anymore?
 

Hey guys

Since I got my Mogul a few months back, I haven't really checked the Apache side of the site. I need to now as my brother is having some issues with his Apache, and i'm noticing something:

Where are all the custom ROMS???

Back when I was at the site regularly, there were 15 or 20 custom rom threads going at any given time, now I see one! Have people just stopped doing them?

Just curious.

well, the last ROM that was posted for the apache was helmi_c's custom WM6 ROM which is really amazing from what i saw, but what kind of issues is your brother having with his 6700?

ROMs are kind of passe now that building them is so easy via the kitchen. If you really want a ROM, the only current ROM is Rob Mayer's (the Helmi ROM is way, way old - use the kitchen).

Well, I'm not sure exactly the problems he's having, I think he just wanted a different ROM. His last one was giving him some problems that even a hard reset didn't fix so he thought he'd try a new ROM. I think he used an older one than the one he originally had, and he couldn't find the .nbh file for the original ROM he was using.

Anyway, thanks for the update guys. He and I will just need to start playin' with the Kitchen I guess!

I can't believe it, you can't figure out why custom ROMS aren't being built???

That's because people have been upgrading their phones and no longer have 6700's

Why make a ROM for a phone you don't have when you can build a custom ROM for the phone you currently have???

There are tons of people who still have the 6700. Hence the large number of post daily in the Apache and Apache upgrades threads. IMHO the 6700 is still a better phone than the 6800. Thats why I have had my new every 2 at VZW still available to use since November of 2007. When they get that device right I may consider an upgrade. As of right now it seems the move to the 6800 would be a downgrade. The reason people are not building ROMs to distribute is that the Kitchen is so easy to use. A personal ROM can be made in the kitchen as easy as using someone else's work.

Why visit a forum for a phone you don't have anymore?

The absence of custom roms has nothing to do with people upgrading their phones. You'll see a similar drop in custom rom releases for titan/touch/tilt devices soon enough.
