Dumb question about flashing

I need to make a minor change in my WM6 build.

Can I reflash, then soft reset and still have everything else that wasn't in the rom (settings, etc)?

Thanks,
Doug Eubanks

No, you get a hard reset no matter what. Even if you don't hold in the soft-keys it still performs a hard reset.

I would suggest that you create a "Personal Reg Entries" oem to store all of your settings and tweaks. That way, you can cook it into your ROM, and all of your customizations will persist even after a hard reset.

Many personalizations can be handled from within tierman's OEMizer. For those that can't, I would suggest you start with a clean ROM, and do a registry dump using dillSoft RegistryDump(PPC). Then, customize a setting, and do another dump. Use something like UltraCompare to compare the differences between the two dumps, and build your OEM using the findings. It is a tedious process, but worth the effort.

Thank you for the replies...

I ended up wiping the device, but I am planning on following brightedge's instructions. I've had my phone for about 3 weeks and I've been bouncing back and forth a couple of times between Helmi's WM6 Kitchen and Verizon's official WM5 build. I'd settled on the WM6 kitchen, but then found the Arcsoft upgrade which required it to be built into the ROM.

The good news, reflashing also let me go back to radio 1.41 instead of 1.43 because I was missing a few SMSes.

I also installed the PIM backup utility, and I'm DirectPushing to a Zimbra mail server. Hopefully I won't have to set anything else up after this time...

Doug
