Replace xv6700(wm6) or new xv6800?
I'm sure this thread already exists somewhere started long ago, but I searched and didn't see it so my apologies. My xv6700 (with WM6) is dying and I'm debating replacing it for $50 (insurance refurb) or getting an xv6800 for roughly $200 off (new every two/data discount/rebate). Now that both phones are well settled in and WM6 has been available for the xv6700 for awhile now, is the xv6800 worth stepping up to if I've been happy with the xv6700? I have pretty much all the accessories for the xv6700, but would need to buy new for the xv6800 I assume (battery, car charger, etc), and I could care less about looks.
The answer would appear to be obvious, however if I've missed something amazing about the xv6800, now would be the time to learn it since I have the $200 off available. And as I said, if there's already a good thread covering this please point me to it. There is something to be said however for up to date information, so if the thread is fairly outdated then new opinions/information in this thread would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! |
I suggest both :) replace your existing with a new/refurb (it will be one or the other, but in good condition) then buy a new 6800 with your upgrade. After you get the 6800 sell the 6700 and make back the $50 plus (I believe you can get at least $100-150 for it :)

Heh, well that's an idea I hadn't though of. :p Still, I'd rather just spend $50 and be done rather then a couple hundred and have to try to sell a device. Is there really nothing amazing about the 6800 other then the updated OS and smaller physical design?

I keep looking at other devices and am somewhat stuck as well (also just replaced through asurion - just a coincidence though :)
I love the customizability of the 6700. I believe the 6800 is somewhat better, but really not a whole lot from what I understand. What I'd really like is a longer lasting battery from a smaller form factor, but with wm6. I almost considered the treo due to battery life - but no wm6. Need that for html email. I use the 3200 ext battery, but the extra size is annoying. The 6800 is not all that much more in battery life from what I can see - for the one that fits in the form factor (I believe the ext is 1650 v. 6700 has 1500). I just want a good long day out of it :( I work in a building with terrible reception (on a side note - the 1.43 radio helped enormously!!) and it kills a battery quickly. The 1500 will be dead when I leave (5hrs) if it's fully charged when I get there. I almost looked at palm (same treo solution - they have a 2400 battery that fits in the form factor). but the palm has very shaky push email, so no go. I just don't think it's work the extra $2-300 for the 6800 for just that. Wish I had another solution :) |
