Currently I am on sprint, looking to switch to verizon. Can i use the same phone, they are both CDMA arnt they?

Yes they are....but ....you need to ask Verizon if they will accept Sprint ESN swap.....

I sent them an email will be awesome if they do, wont have to sell my phone and all my accessories.

Please lets us know if they say "yes"....this is a big issue..with sprint/verizon releasing/accepting ESN to/from another carrier.

No problem, I will as soon as I get a response.

Got the email back and they said yes.

Im going to email them back and talk through that *they asked for my ESN* so we shall see

I'm a vzw agent using an originally qwest branded 6700. The system will pull the device info using esn lookup and display htc-6700 and not even tech support can tell you arent using a native xv6700 if you dont tell them. It seems any 6700 that doesn't have an entry in the negative esn files can be used and will be auto accepted on vzw. I have personally converted over and sold several sprint, qwest, and cell south ones all of which were accepted by vzw's esn database as it seems the allowed vzw 6700 esn range isn't just for native esn's like they are doing with the 6800. Go to a vzw agent for a new act who will gladly work for a CPE coam or if you just need an esn change call cust service give them the esn and tell them its a 6700 pocket pc and it should go right in. If vzw is A side of tower in your area after the esn change is done or added to a new account a *22800 should ota program without having to load a prl or manually nam program (*22801 if vzw is b side which altell is in my area.) This will get it working with voice and sms. To get data working you have to edit the mip profile and write a valid vzw dmu key even after flashing a stock or custom vzw rom as those settings remain set to sprint even after a vzw rom is flashed. Had to figure that one out on my own as tier 2 vzw tech support couldn't get data working.

So I just need to flash my sprint to a verizon rom and call verizon and give them my esn to get the phone hooked up on my current account? Is flashing to another carrier just that simple or do I need to delete sprints info beforehand? Has anyone been able to get the data to work?

UPDATE

Verizon does have a lower esn range if the 6700's esn falls below 05401114111 it is not in verizons esn database. Tech support will have to manually add it which is rather difficult to do. It requires persistence and catching the right knowledgeable tech in the right mood pretty much. There is a way for auth agents to force a foreign esn in using a glitch in the system but this can only be done on a brand new activation (cannot do on esn swaps) but if you ever change phones the phone will have to be added into the esn database by a tech to use it again. However, the latter method would give you a pretty vaild arguement to get it added in as they can see that you were using that esn prior on the network and tell them it was changed in error.
