C&S AKU 3.5 Sprint Kirvin Smart Dialer only works once
 

I have been using Clean and simple AKU 3.5 for the Sprint Apache from Kirvin for some time now. I never really paid much attention to the smart dialer feature before because I use Voice Command. I recently signed up for text messaging and wanted an easier way to find the contacts to send a text. My PPC reboots every morning because of a 3am back up. One morning when trying to manually dialing a number the smartdialer feature auto completed the name and number on the display, which I thought was cool. However it only works on the first attempt after a soft reset.

So the problem is, my smart dialer only works after the first time I dial after a soft reset. From then on it doesn't show the auto complete numbers.

I did install the 2.0 Kokkos Silver-Gold Dialer Skin and the smart dialer worked all the time as expected. However, I want a large button layout.

I also installed SmartDial EtenO2ENG_2.0 to get the big buttons but the headset icons are black on dark blue background and I need to see those icons to verify my headset is synced when answering a call.

Has anyone run across this? Is there a decent dark colored big button dialer that supports smart dialer and works right away without registry tweaking the font colors?

I decided to hard reset my device to see if it worked with a virgin copy of C&S. Turns out it does. I installed something that modified my phone to use large buttons and broke smart dialer. The problem I now have is I don't know how I installed the large buttons. I posted what my phone screen looks like. The one on the left works fine, its the default phone skin. The one on the right is the one that is broke that I am looking to uninstall. Does anyone recognise the big buttons I have installed? Does anyone know how to remove it without a hard reset and a rebuild of all my programs?

I figured it out. I installed the reTOUCHed dialer at one point and it breaks the smart dialer. Later I uninstalled it but it didn't actually remove it, it only removed it from the installed programs list. I installed jambaj0e Touch dialer and smart dialer is now working fine and I have big buttons.

Ain't Kirvin's C&S still a GREAT rom? I've only had to hard reset two times since last May.

I've done a Hard Reset twice as well. I run a backup every night so I can quickly get back to where I was before the hard reset. My main reason for hard resetting both times was to verify default functionality. The first time I hard reset I lost my notifications. After a hard reset it worked and after a restore it quit. It was because I removed the default outlook folder using a registry hack. Apparently the default outlook folder manages the notifications. This was the second time. I read somewhere that the wizard retouch phone pad doesn't work well with WM5. That's how I was able to fix this issue.
