Trouble switching back to wm5 verizon on xv6700

Ok, so i installed helmi wm6 on to my xv6700 and it works great...but the phone broke. During the process of upgrading to wm6 i had to go in and chane the bootloader to version 1.02. I am now attempting to load wm5 on it to send it in for a replacement from the utstarcom site and am getting a 101 communictions error....Please help!!!!

I assume you mean you changed the bootloader to 2.02 right? Second are you trying to load the AKU 3.3 update from VZW?

If you are seeing 1.02 then I am not sure how the 2.02 process worked. There is an AKU 3.3 upgrade out in one of the forums that had the bootloader upgrade stripped out of it. I would try that also.

Let me know how you fare. If I can help any further please let me know.

No luck....stills ays error 100 model error.....

gguruusa 01-08-2008 01:56 AM

The 1 in 1.02 just means you have different flash hardware than the 2.x systems. Not a bad thing, as you can't ever have the cursed 2.04/2.05 bootloader (best you can do is 1.04 because once a 1.x system, always a 1.x system).

If you're sending it in, feel free to put the newer bootloader on it (the stock aku3.3 from verizon will install the 1.04 bootloader on your phone).

Based on your post, I take it you downgraded from 1.04 to 1.02 to install WM6? Easiest way to load a WM5 ROM will be to grab any premade one, copy it into the appropriate upgrade/ruu folder in the WM6 kitchen, and run the ruu .exe in that folder.

TuffDaddy 01-08-2008 04:32 PM

Wow ok...looks like im gonna get more than i bargined for...never used a kitchen before all i did was exactly what the previous poster assumed....downgraded to 1.2 bootloader to load wm6 onto my xv6700....Now cant load the aku 3.3 verizon rom because it gives me error 100 not made for this device message......is the kitchen the only way? Have to admit I am a little timid about using it....

kyle9013 01-08-2008 06:16 PM

I have the same problem Downgrading, I keep receiving Not made for this device Error aswell, I dont have to downgrade, just incase I wanna go back or something... Bootloader v2.02 Ive tried the AKU 3.3 from utstarcom No luck, Havent tried the one without the bootloader in it though...

TuffDaddy 01-09-2008 09:40 PM

Attempted to run the exe from inside the upgrade>ruu folder from the kictchen....100 not made for this device error< am I actually supposed to use the kitchen or just use the folders? New phone showed today......Please Help!!!!!!!

gguruusa 01-10-2008 11:01 AM

You can use the folders. Did you try the NoID ruu?

If you use the folders, be sure to clean them up when you're done or you'll get unexpected results the next time you use the kitchen to flash.

TuffDaddy 01-10-2008 11:30 PM

Yes tried the NoId folder, should just open the exe file from inside it right (Double click on the icon)? Error 100 not made for this device with two seperate verizon roms......

TuffDaddy 01-10-2008 11:57 PM

I GOT IT....never thought I would be so happy to see that ugly wm5 blue screen again.....what I did was put the ms_.nbf, the radio_.nbf and the nk.nbf file into the NoId folder and clicked ton the NoIdRUU command icon, and it loaded!!!!!SWEET! Thanks to everyone on the forum that gave me some guidance to be able to do this, your help has been greatly appriciated!

gguruusa 01-11-2008 01:52 AM

heh - yes, the various RUU utilities only work on the rom files that are IN the same folder. It won't go find them somewhere else, you have to copy them into the folder.

As I stated earlier, be sure to remove the ROM files from the (whatever RUU you used) folder after you flash if you want to use the kitchen in the future...

kyle9013 01-11-2008 02:58 PM

Good Job! Im still Stuck... Where are you getting the 3 .nbf files? and the NoID_Ruu Folder? I tried a few But no luck =/

TuffDaddy 01-13-2008 12:21 AM

The three files should be in the old verizon releace (its on here) and the to is ruu folder is in the kitchen folder....just take those three files, place them in the folder and run the noid ruu command already in the folder< let me know if it works for you.

kyle9013 01-13-2008 05:42 PM

The AKU 3.3? I got one but its just an .exe file... and the Ruu folder from The wm6 kitchen? the upgrade one correct? Ah, im confused. sorry =[

TuffDaddy 01-14-2008 12:26 AM

Download the file that is not an exe file....its around here someplace, has the same name as the others....read the posts, they will direct you to the one that does not have the troubled bootloader in it.....Then use the no-id exe file from the kitchen rom....just open it, insert the three files and use the no-id exe that is already inside it.....should work. Ill be in vegas for the next three days.......Good Luck, let me know if you can find it.

kyle9013 01-14-2008 02:17 PM

Ah , Still no luck of finding that I tried to use the search, but maybe im not searching right. Lol... I do want the One WITHOUT the troubled Bootloader, So i can Upgrade back to Wm6...I just wanted to Downgrade just to test it out to see if it works, then Upgrade again... Have Fun In Vegas...

Kyle,
Here's tne PPCGeeks version of the AKU3 (where the offending bootloader was removed): http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...81&postcount=2
(The link still gets a live rapidshare for the time being).
Here's the old stock VZW AKU2: http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/...0_WWE_Ship.exe

The first file is a zip while the second is an exe, but that makes no difference. (The exe is really a self-extracting zip or rar.) For either of them, point to the file in windows, right click and open with winrar, winzip, or other suitable unpacker. Extract the three nbf files (nk.nbf, ms.nbf, and radio.nbf) and drop them into the c:\BuildOS\Upgrade\NoID_RUU folder. Then double-click APACUpgradeUt_noID.exe after placing your phone in bootloader and connecting .
