Problems everywhere...

Hey everyone

So first of let me say I am a total newbie.

Okay so here's my problem

First off I just got my PPC 6700 and the software on it is old... I need to upgrade this.. The ROM? Yes well first off I spent like two hours searching this forum to get the simple like new updated ALLTEL ROM or whatever.

Second off I have no idea how to install this...My active sync does work. I downloaded active sync 4.5 and I connected my phone and the connection doesn't work.

I looked for over an hour trying to find solutions to these problems but I must be to stupid or too new to get these things right. I found a sprint ROM but I think I need alltel? either way that said I needed to use ACTIVE SYNC. What uh should I do to fix everything.

So yes thanks a lot.

I apologize since i'm so yahh

Merry Christmas

Thanks

Look in the "upgrade" thread at the top of the threads list. it will take you to another thread list and use the Helmi kitchen. it is pretty easy and there is a good instruction list. Have fun and Merry Christmas

EM,
I agree with gg's suggestion to use the WM6 kitchen, but without a functioning AS connection that would be kind of pointless. You didn't mention your PC system, but since you mention AS then that implies you are using Windows XP - be sure it is service pack 2 with all the latest patches. If you are using Vista, be sure you've downloaded the latest version of Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista version of AS).
Activesync itself is one of the worst abominations ever foisted upon mankind, but it's not as bad as it used to be. The /help/troubleshooter can sometimes point you in the right direction - my early problems seemed to be firewall-related. Also check that you are using a good cable to plug directly into a USB port on the computer - no hubs, etc. Regularly rebooting your machine and resetting your phone between connection attempts is also good practice.
Good luck.
