USB tethering in LINUX with PPC-6700 (WM5 phones)
Hey, great news! Somebody has finally figured out all the steps required to do PocketPC USB tethering in Linux!! This is huge news.
This should also work for other WM5 devices (perhaps even Motorola Q?) -- although written for PPC-6700 on Sprint using Fedora Core (FC5), there are instructions which suggest how to adapt for other Windows Mobile devices, and it should be trivial to make it work on other distros. It will likely work fine for Verizon, but it would be good to get feedback here. I've been in touch with the author, he is in process of perfecting it (not necessary to give real user name/passwd, just give something, ie. "web", "web"). Well, here's the link, enjoy! http://andrewtv.org/fedora-ppc6700/ |
sweet, I don't have a box running linux, but have thought about trying it on a junk machine. if ur running linux and have done this, do u mind writing up a good tutorial and posting it?

If you look at the link I posted, you'll find the superb tutorial that I found. The guy had just posted it when I found it by yet more googling after trying to make it work for 1.5 days.
It saved my holiday weekend. If you somehow missed the link, here it is again: http://andrewtv.org/fedora-ppc6700/ |
nope didn't miss the link, just thought it would be a good add to the site. appreciate you letting us in on this news though. :thumbleft:
