Aku 3.3
I found the download prompt for the 3.3 firmware/rom update here;
http://www.phonenews.com/phones/inde...0_/_HTC_Apache Whats the benefits with going with a custom rom made here as opposed to just going with the 3.3 or 3.5 on the news site? Both have to go thru the bootloader mode right? An both will make the 6700 perform better, so which would be more user friendly? Thanks in advance. |
3.5 seems to be the most polished of all the roms. I've been puting off jumping to WM6 untill all the bugs are gone.

3.3 is an official carrier rom. Most people load the bootloader upgrade that comes with it, which is undersirable.
3.5 is a kitchen, which is pretty stable, and incorporates all the good things from the 3.3 official carrier roms. 3.5 is no longer being updated. WM6 is a kitchen, also pretty stable (equivalent to the 3.5 kitchen), also uses the best parts of the 3.3 rom, is easier to use than the WM5 AKU 3.5 kitchen (3.5 is an old style kitchen), and has updated OEMs. The quick answer is: If you're going to flash, use the WM6 kitchen. ANY custom rom is better than a carrier rom. Otherwise, just stay with whatever you presently have. I took forever to switch from WM5 AKU 3.5 to WM6, but I have found WM6 to be better overall. |
thanks all!

EXCELLENT summary, helps my decision a whole lot. As far as the wm6 kitchen, who has the version with the least if any amount of glitches as I dont want to deal with any suprises. If thats not possible, right now, I'll just stay with my 2+ what ever I got on my ppc 6700 thru sprint and roll with the wm5 I think I have on my phone already. Thanks a mill! |
As mentioned, the WM5 3.5 kitchen (A kitchen allows you to select what software you want to include, therefore you can make it as simple as you like) is the most stable. The WM6 kitchen is very good, and has the added bonus of some more features. I am currently using exchange email ahd now have html with push :) very nice...
