:laughing6: that Im the proud owner of my first ever BRICKED pocket pc. Well I was working on getting AKU3.3 to work, and either a.) crossed a file up, or b.) NOD32 screwed me. I forgot to kill it. But I cant turn it on, and I cant put it into bootloader mode to reflash it. Looks like I will be headed to the Sprint store today or tomorrow. :evil: I hope I get a nice rep. who just gives me one. I sure dont wanna wait around on them to send me one. :P

You know its just a matter of time it will happen to all of us at some point. Mess with something to much and something will go wrong.

Well nall, I find it very hard to "brick" ur phone. I was playing with its "backbone" the OS. And with the bootloader, which is probably were my problem came from. I think I may have mixed the EnterBL.exe with another one from a different device, but Im not sure because it got to 99%. COuld have been NOD32 tho too. But yea I knew it was a matter of time before I done it to mine with as much testing/playing I have been doing recently. And well it was about time for a new one (old one had dents and dings everywhere :P ). But I doing this for all my fellow Apache owners :D This is the only problem I have ran into. As far as custom ROMs, thats checked off the list. Customizing AKU 2.2 will take me no time. ;) Now upgrading AKUs, thats a different story. And Jamaa you just dont know how much this SUX! hehe Waiting patiently on Sprint store 30-45 mins from here to open. :)

I know, there are 2 sprint stores where mike and I leave but they were telling me last January 2005 that sprint offers EVDO here :-). The truth is we still do not. They also said TREO 650 supports EVDO.
So the only option we have is to travel to raleigh, which is 45-50 miles from here. I wish you all the best Mike, hope they have ran out of 6700 and you get 6800.

Im kind of hoping on Rocky Mount myself. But if I have to go to Raleigh, I just may do that. And yea I wish :laughing6: Maybe give me a treo 700wx till I can get me a 6700 would be nice......then I could play with it. :D

if they dont have any more 6700's, they probably will give you a 700wx

Well got my ppc, sitting at the mexican restaurant playing on my ppc of raleighs evdo network and I absolutely love it. Figured I better try it out before I go home so I know how speedy evdo is! :D Oh the new ppc is great but alittle stiff, just use to my old wore out keys and lose sliding hinge. :P This will takesome getting use to. And is it me or do they put a small thin plastic layer over the screen?

Good thing you have a new PPC, but it now sucks that you have to redo your phone contacts and download all programs from scratch.

That is one reason why Sprint should do the ROM/AKU updates in-sotre and not on a computer or over the phone. It's hard that your phone is now a brick but at least they were nice enough to give you an exchange.

yea but this was my fault trying to flash a rom that doesn't work with our apaches. :D It wasn't the offical one that done it. ;) And yea the manager said if I didn't have tep/lock line ins. it would have been a big hassle. :)

What do you think they will say when you bring this one in next week after you try to get the new rom on your new ppc-6700 (I know your not going to quit) lol. Or you can just get it to work for the rest of us so we aren't visiting the store when the 6800 comes out.

I havent threw in the towel just yet. First Im gonna release a full custom AKU 2.2 rom then I will go back to work on it. Just gotta build my nerves back up.....and btw I just got me new one like 2 hours ago :D

I think mike is gonna let it sit for couple days before he starts playing with AKU 3 again. It would make him look bad to brick it and bring it back to the same store within 24 hours. :D Hey Wide, keep up the good work.

He will try it again, I'm sure. Just bring it to a different store! HAHA

AKU 3.3 sounds too good to leave alone. He will try again.

(BTW- There is a known CROSSBOW os working on a Hermes. I may not sell mine yet! They are already trying to extract the ROM)

Speaking of ROM updates and bricked phones. the last one that UT starcom and sprint officially released for the 6700 almost bricked my phone. and now for some reason I cant use the USB port at all on my 6700. Thank god for bluetooth and having an extra battery and a cable. Im to lazy to go to a sprint store or to call insurance to get a replacement

Mike, yesterday I was travelling back from Raleigh to Wilson. Earlier as soon as you reach Smithfield Road exit, the ECDO used to turn to 1xRTT. Yesterday when I saw EVDO even after that I constantly checked and saw that upto Zebulon they have it solid EVDO coverage. Then once you take the exit towards wilson it stays on for about 5-6 miles. Then 1xRTT again. Zebulon is such a small town and still gets EVDO.

yea rush wheb I was coming back I noticed that but mine held Ev connection until about 15miles from Sims. I was like wow! Ev service is rightaround the corner, hopefully we get it soon!
