Hardware question re: display orientation

Just mark my forehead with a big, fat "L", as in La-hoo-za-her (sad attempt at an Ace Ventura spelling)!
I had one of the older 6700s with the sloppy stylus holder and lost the stylus within a month of getting the phone. I subbed a Q-tip until the new one arrived in the mail, but got the Q-tip stuck in the stylus slot and ended up jamming it down further trying to get it out. I got creative and made a hooked paper-clip that succeeded in getting the Q-tip out, but it looks like I bumped something in that hole because now the phone always wants to go to landscape mode. Is there a way to fix it without tearing the phone apart and, if not, do I need to do it in a 'clean room' environment and is it as difficult as I'm dreading? Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

My 2 bits on this site - IT ROCKS! I've played with ROMs from Kirvin, Colonel, BigJ, Sardinour & helmi_c, and most recently been playing in helmi's kitchen. Other friends have gone thru several iterations of phones and I'm still in love with this one, thanks to you all! Hoping I can get to the point where I can actually 'contribute' to the site, either technically or financially or both.

Funny as it seems, there have been tons of people who have posted, wanting a way to keep it in landscape all the time. It doesn't really help your issue, but you may have helped them.

New PPC 'accessory' - paper-clip hook?

I was all proud of myself for having made the tool that retrieved the Q-Tip, that is until I found I'd inadvertantly tweaked a sensor inside that is supposed to auto-detect which orientation to display.

I don't know that I'd recommend poking around in there, tho, because it felt like there may have been more than just that single sensor down there. It would be awesome if someone has actually taken one apart and took pictures so we're not just 'poking around' in there. If not, maybe that's how I can contribute to the site...
