New ROM update "Update"

:(

I have got the new ROM installed without the Sprint junk and all is well except... The voice call fix:

"Push-mail, voice call fix. The voice call is rejected when CE application attempted outgoing data packets. However, a 2nd voice call attempt would go through"

I currently sync with Exchange so I have an "always on" connection at 1X. If I try to dial a contact or use the speed dial, the phone dials, disconnects about 2 seconds later, "dongs" at me three times, and then brings up the voice dial prompt. After I cancel out of the voice dial screens and redial (phone hard or soft button), the call connects.

This is the biggest reason that I installed the upgrade and it still gives me the same problem! Could it be that the new ROM wasn't installed correctly? Here are my device settings:

ROM: 2.06.00 WWE
Date: 2/22/06
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol SNAZ-40306
ExtROM: 2.06.303 WWE
HW Version: 0041
PRL: 20224
PRI: 1.19_003

It could be a conflict with some installed software. After my initial reset, it worked great. Anyone having the same issues or have any idea how to correct this? Other than this annoying little issue, the device seems to respond faster and my BT headset is louder (could be my imagination).

Thanks all!

you just done the ext rom update huh? if so then everything is right. But if u didnt and updated using ur computer, then something may hve went wrong as the new radio version is 1.27.00 not 1.12.00. I myself haven't had an issue, and calls go right through for me. I would suggest (if u did the ext rom update) to rerun the autorun.exe and see if that's fixes ur issue.

Ext. ROM

I didn't update with the PC (can't connect via AS) so I did the manual update. Here is a copy of my config.txt:

Is the radio version updated with the new ROM?

Wideawake 12-05-2006 10:02 AM

yes its in the new rom but can only be installed through the full update. I suggest running the autorun.exe again and see if that fixes it.

Thanks Mike!

I'll give that a try. When you say "Full update", what do you mean exactly? Do I need to change anything in my config.txt file to include anything that I missed?

Wideawake 12-05-2006 04:26 PM

nall theres no upgrading the Radio version unless you do the desktop install that updates the ppc (<---that's what I mean by full update). As far as u orginal problem, did u rerun the autorun file and try that?

You should definitely do the radio upgrade also. The whole purpose of this upgrade is to upgrade the radio and how it interacts with the OS. Base OS is unchanged, the ext-rom updates the radio .dlls and the compact flash drivers, and the radio programming itself is upgraded.

If you didn't upgrade the radio stack, upgrading the ext-rom isn't going to help much.

You can install just the radio update, which will leave your ext-rom as you have it now, but it will do a hard reset on your phone. When the phone hard resets, your custom ext-rom will install (minus the adware), but you will later have to unlock/unhide it again to modify further, if you wish.

I have been running mine with only the radio upgrade and my custom ext-rom for over a month now. ROCK SOLID on all accounts. Not one lockup, data connects/disconnects as it should, etc.

Hope this helps.

Since it is just a radio upgrade, is there any way to do it without doing a hard-reset?

Wideawake 12-05-2006 07:01 PM

no doubt, but he couldn't do the full upgrade because of issues with activsync or something. I myself haven't had any issues and I did the full upgrade with a custom extended also.

nmeister,
I tried it twice. The installer will not say to do a hard reset, but it hard resets anyway, just with the radio upgrade.

And yes Scooter, I missed the part about ActiveSync not working. You will have to use ActiveSync to do the radio upgrade.
