streaming video /music

does anyone know of any sites/apps?

as far as video theres a couple out there, but nothing u wanna watch. I mean the videos that are legit to stream, are older, that no longer have copyright protection. And when I say old I mean old old. you can listen streaming radio at thestreamcenter.com/pda. Or you have the option of streaming ur own music and videos from ur desktop with a broadband connection using orb. hope this helps.

u will have to make tcpmp ur default player with a simple registry edit. ;) if u want the reg edit let me know otherwise here's a .cab to do it I made for another member.

TCPMP Coreplayer works great with shoutcast.com (it opens .pls files). All you have to do is go to shoutcast.com and click on a "listen" link. Download the file to your phone and open it and it will stream.

Blofeld 11-14-2006 02:36 PM

shoutcast.com is good (and listening to some music right now), but I seem to have difficulties with thrstreamercenter. I always get "unknown file format" error message on my TCPMP (and have the same problem with video streams from local wireless stations.)

What is wrong here? Anyway my 6700 is beginning to look what the 6700 should, a versatile and portable PC.

TCPMP + Orb for streaming your own videos and music FTW
Setting up your own or listening to a shoucast broadcast with TCPMP is also a good choice

Where do i find info on the hack to make tcpmp work with orb as default?

Wideawake 11-14-2006 06:22 PM

u will have to default tcpmp as ur default player......playdeep didnt we go through this once already? :D

playdeep 11-14-2006 08:47 PM

Yep and it never worked for me, even that registry edit you made for me(which was very nice of you) didnt work for me or the people i had try it either. Thanks for your help.

Blofeld 11-14-2006 10:55 PM

After you changed the registry settings, did you wait a minute or so, then soft reset your device? The hack won't work unless you reboot your device.

i never put in the hack physically, i used the special cab wideawake made me.....but even then i am pretty sure i waited and reset it. i can try again.

ok....so I finally got tcpmp working and it opens as default....(i went to the orb setup web page...and clicked on 'tools' and proceeded to try making all the players listed there the default till I got one that worked...choosing winamp was the choice that ended up allowin orb to automatically open tcpmp....apparently I had set tcpmp to be the default on my phone but the orb web app wanted to open wmp since that is whatg I had it set to open.) now, I did all this without having to do the regedit.

is there a benefit of still doing the regedit? I have noticed that when I click to open a song that I want to play (acting as if it were a file I am asking to download versus stream) it gives me a message telling me that the file already exists and asking if I want to replace it....kinda weird to be getting for files I want to stream that definitely don't exist on my phone. so I click on yes and the file preceeds to play. anyone ever see this? or did u notsee it bc u all did the hack you think?

tcpmp is nice....allowing for more file extensions usage, rewind and fast forward....its great. what do u all have set as your speed on your computer? I know it will vary based on homecomputer processor and bandwidth....I have a fast connection (6mb dl....745kb up) and a decent comp...but I am curious what you all recommend (i am in a non evdo area...at home I use wifi)...I have been using 160kb....though I get test speeds much higher on my phone bc I was getting some buffering every other song or so. I understand that not being in an evdo area is part of the problem but there are times it works quite well even considering.

other question: when wmp buffers it gives me a % gauge.....I noticed that tcpmp seems to give me the little windows hourglass(or ppc win5 equivalent) instead of a % guage....is this normal and what you all see? I thought it kinda weird and thought I would ask. thanks a million.
