You will not need to reactive. You do need a full backup and restore for you PIM data (contacts, etc) and any installed apps will need to be re-installed/reregistered (if they were commercial apps that needed some registration...) because the rom update requires a hard reset/memory wipe of internal memory.

What is the difference between the full version and the bare bones?

I've been wanting to do this for the longest time and now i've got a fresh blank ppc6700 to do it with. My only concern is the stock rom. Is there anyway I can back it up just in case I want to go back to the stock rom?

williscool 12-02-2007 02:51 AM

O and I meant back it up to my pc because I don't have an Sd card :(

you can actually download the 3.5aku rom from the UTStarcom.com website which will allow you to reformat your ppc to the main rom if you so choose to in the future. So if you don't like the kitchen you can revert back to the main verizon rom.

I guess I should mention I have a Sprint PPC 6700 then :(

The answers to any questions you could possibly ask can be found in the Upgrades section found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=53
It is a work in progress (WM6). I have used it for a couple of months and absolutly love it. It gave my phone new life. Look at the stickied links in the upgrades section and feel free to ask any questions. No need to continue the discussion in this thread. Just hop on into the fire at the link above and enjoy having a new operating system. As stated do at your own risk, but as you will see there are very few if any people that say they broke their phone. Very easy to learn to upgrade, but you must read and search and read some more. Good Luck.
