HELP! Cannot install any programs to Sprint PPC6700
I have a Sprint PPC6700. I have Activesync 4.5. It will connect and sync with outlook and I am able to sync and browse my device. If I try to install ANY programs I get message that "Windows CE Setup Files - Application Manager cannot install this application on your mobile device due to an error in the setup file. Reinstall and try again." I've tried games, microsoft money, etc and not one single program will install. I've done a hard reset on my PPC. If I move the files to my laptop, it will install them. I am guessing at this point that something is on my desktop that is preventing it.
I am new to this so any help on where to begin would be much appreciated. After much searching, I have noticed that AKU are updates that might be needed. I have Windows Mobile 5.0 (Build 14847.2.0.0). Thanks! |
You're not trying to install windows apps to your mobile device are you?
|
No. They are for pocket pc - like money for pocket pc, freecell for ppc, xtndconnect to connect to lotus organizer, pocket streets, etc...

Weird. Desktop is Vista or XP? Using admin or user account?
|
XP, administator

Make sure the programs you are installing support the ARM processor... I have many older programs for my old PPCs that just don't work on the new PPCs...
Try installing the program with the PPC not hooked into the PC... Did you get a message saying it would be installed next time the PPC syncs? If not, you might have a problem with Activesync... Try installing from the Add/Remove part of Activesync instead on running an executable installer over and over to no effect... Again, if its not showing up in the list on the PC, then its an Activesync issue.... On the PPC, try disabling Advanced Network Functionality via "USB to PC" in Settings/Connections... Backup before you do the following: Delete the relationship from both the PPC and the PC, reboot both, and re-establish the relationship... If there is still no love, delete the relationship from both, remove Activesync, reboot, then reinstall Activesync and re-establish the relationship... If there are still problems, try older versions of Activesync... If all else fails, you might just have to extract CABs and install them manually... Good Luck... |
