A program to crash it completely

Does anyone know of a program that will completely crash my ppc so that it wont work. long story short, my girl's cousin dropped my perfect phone onto concrete and it has big dents near the the camera button. I want to crash it so I can walk into sprint and get a brand new phone. Any help? i have all insurances and dont really want a refurb. thanks

Wideawake 06-26-2006 03:09 AM

well as far as the sprint store giving u a replacement, that's depends on the rep I guess. cac9478 had a rep I've him a new one, but u never know. There is only one way to completely kill ur ppc, and sadly u have to run ur own exchange server. You don't have a exchage server at home ehh?

what is a exchange server? I probably dont have one if i dont know what it is

If you have ESRP and you just break your phone in half they should replace it right then and there with a new phone. They did with mine but I do not know if your store has any refurbs in stock in which case they will give you a refurb. My store only had new ones so thats what they gave me.

lol this is crazy, but what do you think the best way to mess up this phone without any trouble from a sprint rep. I'm trying to do this before my trip on friday, and probably will do it tomorrow. also would i have to pay for anything if i went to the sprint store and asked for a replacement?

cac9478 06-26-2006 04:57 AM

I didnt have to pay for anything. I walked in there and told the guy I dropped the phone and the screen broke and he handed me a new phone. Now I would recommend doing something you can recover. I dont know of any but when I did it, it worked. So good luck.

If you accidently drop it and ran over it by a car, I think they will replace it. :D

lol alright, thanks everybody

I dont know of any software, but 10 seconds in the microwave should do the trick. I did this with a samsung I had a few years ago. They were unable to detect the cause of the failure, and I got a new phone under warranty.

As long as you have the 6 dolllars equipment "REPLACEMENT" on your plan it does not matter what happens to your phone. It can be lost, stolen, chewed by your dog, fallen on the toilet, used it as a weapon..... Insurance is insurace, not to be confused with "warranty" which is covered by the manufacturer. As with any insurance, there will be a small deductible.

good luck , and let us know how ur replacement experience went :)

ohhh my bad my bad. I thought u had lost ur phone. I was just skimming over it last night, spent all night trying to finish the vista install. A exchange server is a computer that's connected the the net at ur house, and runs microsoft exchange server os. If ya had that u could just wipe the phones memory so a theft couldn't get ur personal info. I have heard of a program that completely locks the phone, so it can't be used anymore. Don't remember where or the name of it right now though. good luck :thumbleft:

~mike

bunnytrigger 07-02-2006 08:05 PM

well, that is prolly still a workin phone.....unless the battery blew up or the screen's liquid burn out and busted the crystal/plastic part of it... :D

take pics??

Sonin66 07-02-2006 09:42 PM

actually the two secs it was in the mic, messed up the phone. it wouldnt turn on and when plugged into the travel charger, a red light came on. i also messed up the rom on the new phone. have to wait until tomorrow to get a new one.

Sonin66 07-02-2006 09:47 PM

it sparked and thats why i only did it for 2 secs. i could smell somethin from the phone, smelled like melted plastic

Wideawake 07-02-2006 10:28 PM

lol. you should have to some shots of it and let us see it. so what happened with the new phones rom? it may have been fixable.
~mike

wingzero 07-02-2006 11:39 PM

Sonin66, you're a brave soul. So does the phone still work?

Sonin66 07-02-2006 11:45 PM

Wideawake - yea i should have, but didnt really notice to much damage on the outside except where the camera is the lens looked kind of smokey. as for the rom, i tried to update it, but when i was in the process, the ppc screen went dark and i guess it shut off. i really dont think its fixable. tried to hard reset and it wont reset. it reads on the screen(no backlight) serial v.1.00

Wingzero - thanks! that was my old phone that i wanted to get rid of, thats why i put it in the microwave. got the new phone today but messed up the rom

Wideawake 07-03-2006 12:21 AM

sonin did u try to reinstall the rom?

A failed ROM update is recoverable. Try this:

1. disable active sync and unplug the USB from the device
2. Press and hold in this order Power->Voice Memo->reset->release all
3. device should say serial
4. plug in USB, should now say USB
5. Make sure device shows up in device mgr
6. activate .exe (New ROM update)

Sonin66 07-03-2006 03:30 AM

i didnt know how to reinstall it. Malatesta got it working again. i dont know how you guys could figure out how to reinstall the rom, but the rep didnt know(advance tech). thanks

Wideawake 07-03-2006 06:31 AM

hehe figured it could be fixed by reinstalling the ROM. round of applause for u not having to wait on a new phone and Malatesta for the instructions! :) (thats why he's a mod, :D)
