ActiveSync CAB to fix syncing issues!
2 Attachment(s)
This software makes some features available and corrects some issues with ActiveSync for the PPC6700. I installed this on to my 6700 last month and I haven't had a problem connecting to my PC since. This is from the UTStarcom site. Good luck!

fixing to test this out, tried syncing this morning and it keep on connecting....I will report back :D and thanks for posting.

What's the source of that cab? How does it differ from the one that lets you switch to USB/Serial mode?
|
it came from utstarcom...and omg it fixed my activsync issues  its not like I use activsync but hey this works! Edited title to reflect the fix. ;)

Active Sync Mode is software that manipulates hardware and software from
restricting the 6700 as a network component. Installing the software in the device and switching the option of RNDIS (Remote Network Driver Interface Specification) to USB (Universal Serial Bus), will allow an authorized connection of new hardware being installed on a computer instead of a new network detection disengaging the 6700 as being recognizable to Active Sync. |
i edited my zip file. i put the wrong word document into the zip file...sorry about that :( it's fixed now though :D

Yes, it fixes the active sync issues. Don't forget to actually *run* the new app after you install the cab, and select the USB Serial mode :D |

Bummer. I decided to cheap it out for my home Pc and use the free McAfee anti-virus that comes with my Comcast cable service but it's the only one that doesn't work with this fix.

just unzip, tap the .cab, it will install, then go to program menu, tap the other *new* activsync icon change to usb and ur off.

This seems to be a universal fix for WM5 devices and ActiveSync.
Interestingly enough, The 700wx comes with this feature built in with a Shortcut called USB Switch and running it changes the function between Serial USB and RNDIS: http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...creen002-2.png |
funny thing is that I don't have two active sync icons when I go to start/programs...HELP please...
|
ur supposed too ;) ones for activsync and the others for the switch :thumbleft:
|
ok. just to let you know the cab up top didn't work for me. I had to go to the web site and get it from them. now I have two and changed the setting to usb but I still can't connect. I don't know if this messed me up but I deleted my device in the activesync on the computer. if I did how do I get it back? also is it really that important to sync with the pc? again thanks

the only thing that i can suggest is that you do a hard reset your phone if you want activesync to work. you should end up with two activesync icons once you install the cab file. one will be the activesync icon and the other will be a green icon similar to activesync, but it'll have a usb icon inside of it. you don't have to use activesync. activesync allows you to transfer files, install apps onto your ppc, and back up files from your ppc to you pc. you don't necessarily need the file if you don't want it. |
Can't install Activsync CAB fix
This is my 1st post (I've always found the needed answers before) I can't get the CAB fix to install to my PPC6700. Tried soft reset, stopping all programs, downloading it direct to PPC, install to device, install to storage card and tried all with files from here and UTStarcom site. Any ideas out there? I'm not afraid to copy the files direct and make registry changes manually if needed but just not sure where to go with that thought.
|
well the setup.dll with this file may contain some reg entries that I cannot pull out of it so it may be hard to "manually" install this. I suggest you clear your temp files in PIE and redownload directly to ur phone. Give that a go ;)
~Mike |
still no-go
Still says "...Can't be installed....". Really weird, this is the first time I've found something I can't get to install. I'll try hard reset and go from there but I want to tweak the rom b4 I do it. Thanks for trying.
|
Have u tried installing again after it gives u the failed message? Sometimes that works.
~Mike |
done it/it didn't
Tried that about 10 different times and ways. I'm thinking I messed up something in the extrom or registry that ain't allowing it to install. I've also noticed that most (actually all) proggies that I tried to "uninstall" don't uninstall at all when using the system add/remove. This issue might be related.
|
note that the programs cannot be running when u try to uninstall or it will give u the unable to fully unistall message. ;)
~Mike |
I was extremely carefull on that point for the last 10 tries. First few, I didn't even think about it. Some basic info; ROM ver: 2.06.00 WWE, ExtROM 2.06.303 WWE, PRL 20224, PRI 1.10_003. Dunno if there's any clues there but it doesn't hurt to know what it is. I had similar issues with ExtROM when trying to get rid of junkware like some of the cabs from the ExtROM would not install as instructs in another post described.
|
Your PRI is out of date and should be 1.19_0003 which should have been updated when u done the upgrade to the newest rom, or after any hard resets. This is a very odd issue.....hmmm. :?
~Mike |
I doubled checked and that's what it says. I guess one thing leads to another. Performance-wise, it's running better than ever. Is there a way to update the PRI by itself?
|
you can find the ring through fix thread and download just the ppst file and run it which will update ur pri ;)
~Mike |
I'll give it a whirl and let you know. Thanks.
|
I decided to dump the free McAfee that Comcast provides as it is a resource hog and I think it was messing up some other programs. I wen twith NOD32. So now I will give this a try as ActiveSync works for me only about 80% of the time. It's hard to believe Microsoft just can't get it right. I mean how complicated can it be?
|
I've tried everything I can think of and still it just won't install. Here goes the hard reset. Thanks for trying Mike.

A hard reset didnt work for me. I tried the switcher a few months ago and that didnt work....i had to get the latest activesync (the beta) and that worked.....up till now. now it is no longer frozen on looking for changes but now says attention required and my phone gives me a yellow round icon and says attention required. the system tray shows the green activesync icon and has a red exclaimation point on it. i think i might try reloading the beta on it.

i had the same thought when i heard that people were having issues with scary bears....i am sure that is what caused this...me deleting something....what can i do.....i have hard reset and i know it didnt help.....could have been bc of the spb backup. how can i get them back ? i have memmaid and rarely mess with this seciton but when i did i think is when i seem to have had AS stop working so this has to be it.
EDIT : went and checked and i have two instances of replog.exe and three calnot.exe, one all in caps. how many should i have ? |

well i am pretty sure one was deleted....so how do i get them back. http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...hlight=sktools
post number 11 talks about three files....well i ahve the first two but not the last one.... |
what files do u think u r missing and I can pm them ot you.
~Mike |
It appears i have it working. I will check back and let people know....looks like sktools worked when nothing else did. The real trick will be to get this internet working without having to refurb my phone. i have tried everything i know. i must be missing something....

Long post, scroll down for short version =)
[rant] Well i was having the ActiveSync issue so i found this thread, installed the CAB and ran the switcher to make it USB mode. Then after the soft reset it still wasn't connecting to the PC. I decided to try the SKtools option and look at the notification queue. I didn't see the entry i needed so i manually added it. Still nothing. I tried the EXE file listed. Still nothing. I decided to leave it plugged in while in hibernate mode and see if it would wake up (at least this way the orange light was on - 40% batt before) Nothing. In between all of these steps i tried soft resets and it didn't do anything. Finally i decided to reboot the PC and the phone....Success!!! The Usb switch was on so it registered itself as new again, but it knew that it was my device and synced right up. This is the second time i've had active sync issues and it has only been solved by a simultaneous soft boot of the phone and reboot of the PC. The first time i had the issue it took three reboot/soft reset for it to work. I think the kicker that time was the third reboot i did while i was on hold for tech support and the person just picked up as it was finishing =) [/rant] Moral of the story is the listed things may or may not have helped, but my activesync issue was fixed after a PC reboot and soft reset combo. |
