Can Voice Dialer be disabled?
I'm on my third 6700 this year. The latest ROM update was a great fix since my phone liked to go into flight mode at any time, but I was very happy with MS Voice Command. Now that VC is available in v1.6, I don't want the added bloat in my main memory of the Voice Dialer program. Is there something I can do to remove it? I was told by the tech support guy at UT Starcom that the Voice Dialer program is part of the O/S--NOT! It's hard enough to hear with the ROM update, the best part of the phone is MSVC. Can anyone help?

well it isn't really in the os nor is it really big at all. its sddailer.exe in the windows directory and its only 53kb. then u can remove the .ink at \Windows\AppButtons\Voice Speed Dial.lnk additional 28b and remove the link from \Windows\Start Menu\Programs.

Thanks for that, but I can't find those files. Do I have to do something to show hidden files/folders? Also, will deleting those two files completely disable voice dialer so I won't have any conflicts when I use MSVC with my BT headset (which btw is plantronics discovery 640e and is wonderful!)?

well what conflicts are u having with it? I thought u were doing it to save space....and yes u do have to show all files. ;)

Thank you for being so solicitious! I'm having ActiveSync errors and I think it's because I'm running out of space on my device and I don't know how to show all files.

I doubt its because ur running out of space. activsync is just funny like that, so much so that I don't use it at all. What are u syncing? (contacts, task, etc...)
|
I sync notes, tasks, and especially calendar between my home and my office computers.

well all I can say is try he usual uninstall reinstall activsync and give it another go....I sync all mine with mail2webs exchange servers...
