hey I have a little bit of an issue

Hi im jake from logoes.biz

I recently purchased a ppc 6700 Sprint phone.... All good!
Minus the fact that the earpiece has the lowest volume ever. when i talk on the phone, i have to turn to speaker phone in order to hear the person. Can some one help me find out how to test if the little speaker is blown, or possibly turn up the phone call volume through the earpiece.

Low earpiece volume you say? Hmmmm, that sounds familiar.

Do a quick search and you'll find about 11,000 posts about this.

I have tried. Can you direct me to a solution. If no solution is found, i am replacing it with a new one.

try this.. even though it's for WM6, it will probably fix your issue.

This will work for WM6 (courtesy of SprintMogul.net)

Increasing Speaker Volume

Try increasing the value in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Phone/"Vol"

I cranked mine up to 95000 (original value is 65535 and that increase the volume substantially, I don't know what it will max out at or how it will effect battery power.

Give that a try.

How is this value change?

Strange.. I just checked mine and it's "sticking" after a few soft resets.

I also found another key when I was in there... called PhoneVolume with Dword values DownlinkPhoneVolume and MappedDownVolume. I haven't found anything really clear in a search yet but I'm working on it.

Thanks for the help this far I have downloaded and installed PHM RegEdit. The volume value is set at 4294967295 I have tried changing it to no avail, it just wont accept the change. First what should I change it to? And second how can I get it to accept the changes?

The reg edit might work, but the following is WAY more simple...

1. on the phone dial ##778 then talk (note, this is the code for verizon...on sprint, you may need to dial another # after the number eight...

2. select "edit"

3. enter code 000000

4. from the top menu, select CDMA settings

5. change EVRC from Enabled to Disabled

6. Change Home Page to Voice 13k

7. Change Home Orig to Voice 13k

8. Change Roam Orig to Voice 13k

close out and phone will reset...

google the difference between voice 13k and EVRC and you'll see why this makes the volume louder...too much to discuss here, but suffice it to say that you sacrifice a touch of sound quality, for a significant increase in sound volume...good luck...
