Cloned EVDO problem.

I have a Telus 6700, which I purchased FROM Telus and its legit, but I also have a few extra 6700s as well.

Now my problem is this.. I am able to clone my device just fine to one of my
backup 6700s. After cloning (changing esn, etc). The backup device can
make and receive calls just fine but EVDO wont work. I get a "Network
Rejected" error and an error about Mobile IP Setup.

But EVDO works fine on the legit device, ofcourse.

Now, my question is this - Is there anything else special you need to change
in the backup device, or is there some other info I need to clone from the
legit device to the backup device to have EVDO work ?

I tried backing up ALL settings from the legit device using QPST and writing
it all to the backup device, and the device still gets rejected when I try to
use EVDO..

Any input or help ??

FYI : Its not a username / password issue - With Telus you just simply setup
a connection to dial #777 and use no username or password - it authenticates the device based on something else - but I dont know what
that "something else" is.

TIA ~!

i think i read somewhere that its a combination of the ESN, and serial number of the phone that is used to authenticate on the data services. being that the ESN is the same, and the serials are diffrent, might effect that...tho i could be completly off base

Hey haz im working othe same ev problem I think you need to
to edit 3 files in the nvm folder as you are cloning one apache to another you can just copy the root file system with a prog like qpst. You have to be carefull or you can end up with radio=none and thats bad.

Roger that..

I got it to work.. I was pissing around with copying "this" file and "that file" and since I own enough 6700s, I figured I would go for broke.

I copied everything I figured would have anything to do with all the settings for the device - and upon reset - EVDO works.

So, in the root of the device system, copy the following files to the CLONED
device.

$SYS.FACTORY
.DIAGIN
CLK_DB
pbm_master_v_XX.dat

Then copy the entire \nvm folder and all sub-folders.

Done - Enjoy.

Which works fine if you're cloning from one 6700 to another 6700. I've tried to do the same thing taking a Motorla Q and cloning it to a 6700. Problem is of course no QPTS drivers for the Q, and even if their was I doubt it'd work as its a smartphone not a WM device.
So too pull this off you simply took these files from a 6700 on the same network? What about the A-Key and the other various things? I mean if all you do is copy those files now you have all of that account info in yer phone - or is that what you were trying to do?

Telus doesn't use A-Key on alot of devices, atleast not on their PDA phones and alot of handsets I have , ofcourse I dont have them all, but I am assuming they dont use it at all on anything by the looks of it so far.

I was able to move an account from a V3C to a 6700 along with data and
it worked as well, roughly the same files - easy to figure out.

And it doesn't matter WHAT kind of device it is, all Qualcomm handsets use the same file system structure - so yes, moving the files to another device of different type - same network - does work. Moving between networks can be done as well - but requires some changes to PRL, etc.

I have moved a V3C from Telus to Bell and the other way around, as well as a few PDA phones Smart & WM.

The only problems you may run into are some handsets have their file systems locked, even if you have the SPC/MSL. You can get around this with most devices that have a bootloader mode. For ones that do not, its quite a bit different and requires some foolin' around.

right... i could get it work with flips but not with smartphone to flip... it used to be an A-key issue with the flip phones... its probably one more file we missing though that they use to authenticate evdo.

I have run into this issue a few times now myself, but not ALL the time.

Sometimes moving from flip to pda works, sometimes it does not - so I
am currently trying to figure out what files hold this information. If it
didn't work at all - I would say its device dependent , but its obviously
not as I have moved from flip to PDA many times.

Something fishy goin' on here. I'll get it sorted out.

I know the Moto Q isn't a Qualcomm chipset device, but it does run WM
does it not ? I don't own one (yet), but is there a way to put it into DIAG
mode like other WM devices through the dialer ? ##DIAG ?

If you can put it into diag mode, and get the proper drivers, you should
be able to use bitpim to access the file system maybe ?

I've got a MotoQ coming in the mail from ebay - I guess I'll just wait for
it to get here and start buggering it.
