Cricket WM6.5 WAP proxy fail issues, only IE works

I've spent the last many days searching many forums getting this phone working with Cricket. So far I've learned a lot and have seen enough posts that reply 'go search'. So I'm not posting without trying to help myself first.

I've done all this:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...92&postcount=1
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1426679
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=81027
And more that I can't find the posts for again.

I'm using PADJ's Clean wm6.5 rom for apache.

The plan I'm on comes with 'mobile web', I think that only provides web through their crap portal. So I went to the store and had them add that HTML Data plan for $15 a month. I'm not sure if that was necessary or not since I had done many things afterwards. So MMS is working, and WAP is kind of. I have a EVDO connection. I can browse with IE mobile, but that's it. Email doesn't work, that weather plugin doesn't work, Opera gives an error that it can't find the proxy. Then I tried to USB teathering it, and it didn't work. Then I went into the Firefox settings and told it to use the wap.mycricket.com:8080 as the proxy, and that did work :D Nice and pretty fast. It worked for about 20min, and then stopped working. Nothing changed, I rebooted the pc and ppc and still no go. IE mobile still working, so maybe cricket could have blocked the teathering?

Why isn't the proxy working on the device on anything but IE? I have the proxy for HTTP, but also tried putting it in for WAP/SOCKS/Secure wAP in different combinations. I have he mycricket sites setup in the exceptions.

Help?

Bump.

Why does the wap.mycricket.com proxy seem to only work with IE, and not anything else on the phone that uses the internet?

Re: Cricket WM6.5 WAP proxy fail issues, only IE works

just a thought...
IE sets a proxy detected string, that overrides the connection setting proxy.
delete the connections key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\Connections
and change the value of
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings
EnableNegotiate to 0
IE sets up a static proxy, but cricket uses a dynamic proxy

Just a thought but try using one of the WAP/MMS fix cabs floating around. Check on XDA and search for Ryanmogul6800 cricket cab. Install that and it'll get your connections right. Now as for email, and the HTML data plan. The HTML data still goes through the proxy port 8080 and also is different in some markets i.e. simple IP, and mobile IP preferred. But I'm sure that if you install one of Ryans cabs you'll get it going.

IE uses the proxy settings in HKLM wheras opera uses the proxy from the connection manager

found a fix for the connections problem with cricket.
if u change the registry to not suspend your internet connection, your phone will notice when the connection drops and reconnect when needed.
otherwise it sends data to a closed connection, when data disconnected during standby
appears to fix MMS problem too.
will drain battery slightly faster.
