put your phone in bootloader, and flash! this has the os rom, the ext rom, and the radio rom.

Thank you, downloading now.

yotoad 10-18-2007 01:25 PM

curious to know if this is worth it after running a kirvin 3.5 ROM for a while now -- would this be a "downgrade"?

TMB_XV6700 10-18-2007 01:29 PM

Angel,
Can you tell us what's in the extended rom? Since the update indicates some MMS tweaks, I wonder if there's been a change to the Arcsoft program.

angel12 10-18-2007 01:42 PM

the mms program is still 3.0.6.24
guys, this rom seems to have all the updates that the bell rom did, save for a few tweaks (it feels a lot faster than any other rom i have used on the apache for the past year) so try it out. I will unlock my extend and let yall know exactly whats in there in a bit

FastRX8 10-18-2007 02:46 PM

I installed it. ~31mb of free space after customizations run. :(

FastRX8 10-18-2007 02:51 PM

Just did a hard-reset and stopped customizations. ~37mb free.
The speed for me is not a noticable difference.
I still need to install a bunch of programs, so that will eat up my memory quick.
Thanks for the new radio Verizon, now I'm heading back to the kitchen. ;)

KidGixxer 10-18-2007 05:17 PM

Holy shit that is the fastest screen rotation i have ever seen. Might be equal if not quicker then the mogul.
The whole thing seems faster in general compared to the wm6 rom currently out.

Really? I mean it's quick for a official rom update, but I just reloaded my cooked rom, and it seems just as fast.
Glad it's working good for some. This is definitely a nice rom, and I'll pass it on to some people I know using the official versions.

yotoad 10-18-2007 05:28 PM

FastRX8,
what did you upgrade from?

FastRX8 10-18-2007 06:44 PM

I'm running a cooked rom based on the 3.5 kitchen (See my siggy).
I upgraded to this to check it out. Not right for me, so I went back to the cooked rom and just kept the newer Radio 1.43.

Can you place the cab for the new radio?

Thanks.

You cannot "Cab" the radio.
To upgrade the radio, you must flash the phone.
Here's a thread with the info.
Proceed carefully if you are new to this.

from stuff i have been reading, the radio upgrade might turn out to be more trouble down the road. seems the newer radio takes its toll on the phone and ends up cooking over time. i have read lots of threads where people ask the same question... "how do i downgrade radio to 1.27?"

you all may want to re-think the radio update. if someone could make a good case for it, i might consider it... but i have been reading mostly bad stuff.

Where did you read bad news about Version 1.43?
Are you sure you're not referring to Version 1.41?

robmayer 10-18-2007 07:40 PM

Installed this morning, and didn't like it. Went back to my Clean WM6 ROM, but kept radio v1.43.

tlapier 10-18-2007 08:05 PM

Will the Verizon 3.3 ROM install OK with Vista?

The installation guide says that it needs activesync 4.5 to install. Has anyone tried installing this on Vista, which uses Windows Mobile Device Center?

Thanks.

TMB_XV6700 10-18-2007 08:52 PM

OK I installed it and had to spend a lot of time installing apps that I'd gotten out of the habit of doing (with helmi's kitchen).
Big positive: Incoming call notification (Caller ID) for MS Voice Command works fine without Bad Sector's ID Transfer app. Although it's worked this way for others, this is the first time on my phone.
Big negative: After software installs and syncing over a thousand contacts, I've got next to no device memory left (5.3 MB) and a full extended rom. Overall I've lost about 20MB from what I had available with the kitchen.

I'll try sticking with this for at least a couple weeks, hoping for an updated WM6 kitchen soon.

Mistrblank 10-18-2007 08:57 PM

Well I got screwed. My xv6700 provided by work was upgraded today by our help desk using the new verizon update after they were notified it was released. I was using helmi's 3.5... now I'm Verizon 3.3 and 0 support for tethering and a bunch of other stuff broke. No ICS, the wmodem included doesn't work with the drivers that I have from the install disks and even PDAnet is proving useless.
And I can't roll back due to the 2.05 bootloader :/ Any ideas?

KidGixxer 10-18-2007 11:54 PM

Here is a video of the transition from portrait to landscape that i made.
Keep in mind i have been using various wm6 roms.
wm6 screen rotation seems super slow now.

Supermanwoot 10-19-2007 01:31 AM

lol you videoed your screen rotation!

Kinda fast though I gotta admit. ah i just rotated mine and it made me want to cry. I'm installing the "update" :(

TMB_XV6700 10-19-2007 02:00 AM

My screen rotation was super-fast, too, when I first installed, but it got bogged down eventually. Power usage also appeared to be elevated compared to my old 3.5/1.41 configuration - I hope it's not due to the 1.43 radio which I'm keeping. When I saw all the stuff if the extended rom and realized this didn't even have CF2 included I knew it wasn't for me. I'm presently syncing after cooking a new custom 3.5 -- Thanks to Helmi, Luv, and the rest.

biglcny 10-19-2007 03:14 AM

Has anyone looked at the drivers in this rom? I am wondering if they are even newer that what was in the bell mobility rom.

kyppcgeek 10-19-2007 09:36 AM

the radio. cab is in another post

I installed it using Mobile Device Center on Vista x64 this morning without problems. I made sure I was using the latest Mobile Device Center updates but I don't know if that would make any difference.

Supermanwoot 10-19-2007 03:52 PM

It seems pretty fast to me so far. Only had one crash since yesterday and that was with pocket internet explorer so it may not be related.

Screen rotations are great still, I keep opening my keyboard and waiting for the screen to rotate only to realize it has been flipped already, very nice.

I'm still trying to customize it, so I hope the speed keeps up. I would say this is a good rom though, I went from WM6 to this and it is much much quicker.

migue2078 10-20-2007 12:02 AM

Some one know as installing the WM6 Rom when already I use this update (verizon Aku 3.3), since it seems to me that it changes the bootloader and the previous versions does not receive them (extracts a message Not get Device Data )

ChrisFix 10-21-2007 12:27 PM

I updated to the full OEM rom...not realizing at the time that there was a new bootloader included...but my bootloader screen still shows v1.04 (usb or serial depending on mode), but I can't flash any of the custom roms any longer.

Shouldn't the bootloader screen show v2.05 after the verizon aku3.3 update?
Anybody have the instructions to get the bootloader changed so I can re-load a custom rom?

jhonny11 10-21-2007 05:47 PM

ok - I ran the update going through the bootloader since the vzw auto update wouldn't work. My phone still says 1.02 when in bootloader mode... Not sure if I should update this, or whether it would make any improvements. However, the vzw rom image is running VERY well so far. I've reinstalled the software I use, and even though I lost space, I still have almost 20mb free. With MS VC, WisebarLite, HTC Home plugin, Pocket Breeze. Those are the ones up and running all the time. The other sw shouldn't impact it much. As much as I hate to say it, vzw seems to have put out a pretty decent image...

btw - I installed NONE of the vzw customizations. I stopped doing that not long after getting the phone since vzw doesn't need any of them to work. I don't use MMS...

angel12 10-23-2007 06:41 PM

this package is not the full oem guys. I took the rom, extended rom and radio rom files out of the oem package and put it in the ruu folder from the 3.5 kitchen, that way the new bootloader doesnt get installed on our devices. This means that your phone has to be in bootloader to flash this rom.

jhonny11 10-23-2007 09:07 PM

Not complaining.... Don't want the new bootloader :) But all in all, this seems to run much more stable, and a heck of a lot faster, than any of the previous roms I've used. I may still go back to wm6, as there are features of that I like (html email when my ex hosting company goes ex2007 ;) but I like stability and speed....

BobC 10-31-2007 11:14 PM

Can anybody tell me if the SDHC drivers are included in this ROM? Will it read/write to the new 4Gb and larger MSD cards correctly and consistently?

crankerchick 11-01-2007 10:27 AM

Ok i soft reset before the verizon customizations ran and installed the MMS client but I did not install any of the DST cabs in the external ROM. Do I need to install them? My calendar times are appearing correctly now, but maybe my phone won't handle DST change this weekend?
