Can I block SMS message from a number?

Is this possible?
Verizon tells me that this is impossible but I find that very hard to believe.

What options do I have?

I dont have unlimited txt msgs and so far from someone that I don't know I have gotten 12 msgs in the last 15mins. I tried calling the number to tell them to stop. No one answers the number. I tried replying to one of the txt msgs and told them to stop. Didn't help. Txt msgs just keep coming.

VZW said my only choices were to change my number or report to the police as harrasment (like the police are really going to get right on top of that).

Well, I can tell you that Sprint allows you to login to their webpage and create a list of blacklisted numbers. Any text messages from those numbers not only get blocked, but they do not count against you. Tell verizon to do the same or you will switch to Sprint. :)

I thought I rememberd someone saying that Sprint had a system that allowed this. I will bring that up the VZW. Would be very helpful with my current problem.

You can block SMS and calls w/ Verizon

Log into your vtext.com account. Look at the options or preferences area for text blocking. Add the phone# you would like to block followed by @vtext.com. It would look like this Phone#@vtext.com. This will block calls, sms, etc. from this Phone#.

I just found this out the other day! A CSR actually told me this. Interesting that all other times I asked they told me it was impossible.

They too told me that this was impossible. however there are programs that will automatically delete incoming messages from certain numbers so that you dont even get a notification for them but they DO count against your texts, but most of us probably have unlimited.

I'm not certain of the name of the program but I remember looking at it a while back. Search google for text filtering on ppc phones or something along those lines.

I beleive your only option is to follow the instructions in post number 4. I beleive any software product will simply send the text message to your deleted folder but you will still have received a text message as far as verizon is concerned.

Otherwise, I use a program called Magicall which is great.

i doubt that blocking from vtext will actually block the call as well. at best it will block text from other verizon subscribers if you do actually have to append with "vtext" since "vtext" is verizon's domain. i used to have them as my provider and quickly dumped them since "can you hear me now" is something I was saying a lot because people couldnt hear me due to crap coverage. Sprint = 4 bars where Verizon = 1... at least where I live. Anyway, if the person sending those texts is not a verizon subscriber, I doubt that the vtext block will work... but please share your results.

"Enter a 10-19 digit phone number, an email address, or an entire domain (e.g, spammer.com):" <------from Sprint WWW

Well if Verizon is like Sprint...on blocking SMS the above statement should work.
