I upgraded to radio 1.43 and it still will not allow me to switch mode of operation. It's killing me cause like I said, I'm on a fringe area and my phone is all too happy to jump to a stronger 1X signal, even though EVDO is available.

Sorry to bump an old thread but did anyone figure out how to do this with WM6. It will not stay on 1x, no matter what I do.

I'm pretty sure you have to make sure you don't have an active data connection when you make the change for the setting to take...

Yeah, I don't have anything active and I've seen many people with this problem but no one has mentioned a fix anywhere.

The old WM6 Helmi ROM has got several issues. I don't think it's up to date for the carriers, posibly. I use the WM6 kitchen for one of my Apache's. That worked great!
