Cant FRIGGEN upgrade
 

I hate to sound stupid guys (maybe it is because I have been up all night) but:
Im using windows Vista.
I already downloaded from PPCGeeks, Kitchen and APAC_WM6_R0_Cricket.exe

What the hell am I suppose to do???
First its run APAC_WM6.... but I get error code 150.
Then I try Kitchen and I don't even know what the hell its friggen for.

I feel like I am being run in circles, downloading a bunch of pointless crap.

My Phones Bootloader version is 2.05
Carrier Cricket.

All I want to do is replace Windows Mobile 5 with either 6 or 6.1
I don't want anything really customized.

Why wont APAC_WM6_R0_Cricket.exe work??? Do I need a Driver (Because I am suppose to disable USB in Mobile Device Center)
BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK
Any and all help is greatly apprieciated

You need to read stickies and search. Otherwise you will end up with a brick that used to be a phone.

You are trying to flash a rom that it too old for your device. The kitchen will let you make a new rom, and that will flash to your device.

DUDE I do not know how to use KITCHEN is there a dummy proof tutorial.
I add the rom to kitchen?
Download Updates.
Build ROM

EH??

I'm a Computer Geek not a Phone Guru sorry.
I guess I will fiddle around with the software and see what I can figure out.

Not at all. You can do what us mere mortals (with bandwidth issues and other monitoring services that otherwise won't let the updater run) do and manually install all your files.

After you run buildos.msi, go here http://ppckitchen.org/Downloads/ (remember the capital-d), and download the follwing files to these locations.

These files go to C:\ Program Files\BuildOS\BuildOS\Kitchens (it may be slightly different on your machine, but you get the idea). Do NOT extract them. Leave them as .rar files.

edit: I just went through this list and I may be missing a file or two that should be there. I am not sure, since I got rid of everything Apache when mine busted.

I've been fooling with the kitchen for 2 days now. I didnt know what I was doing coming in, but am getting pretty darn familiar with everything now. Excellent tutorials. I updated. I reinstalled and updated. I figured out I am limited by size, and that some of the optional installs seemingly dont work well with wm6. Not bad for a scientist. Honestly I only got into this whole silly thing because I wanted the sdhc drivers to work with my 8 gig card and couldnt find working ones for wm5.

Issue - Help!
Of my flashes, only 3 have worked successfully.

My first working flash was great, except I apparently forgot to add the camera stuff, so I had to re-do, and I've been re-flashing all day. (Note: I would suggest highlighting/auto select basic standard features to prevent this).

My second working flash had all kinds of wierd isssues. (nothing in today, etc).

My third working flash had the camera and everything I needed, but the wifi was now gone!

-> Most of my flashes dong get past the first screen, and the hard reset asks me if I want to restore factory defaults, then puts me back to that screen. Any thoughts on this?

The last working flash I did was after I pulled the battery out and let the phone sit a while.

Goal: Get WM6 installed the same as the factory installed for WM5 (Verizon XV6700) (office, the basics, windows live)... along with the printer install, the wmp resume fix and anything else I cant istall from elsewhere (suggestions?).

Since this device has little initial memory, I figured I'd manually add all other apps afterward from the flash. (Long term goal - get this all working with 8 gig card and install i phone clones - ifonz, icontact, as well as all the media and apps my card can hold).

For minimum selections/maximum efficiency, I recommend you check off the following from the kitchen:
Word Mobile
Powerpoint Mobile
Excel Mobile
Windows Live
Apache Camera
SDHC drivers
The ESSENTIAL OEMS as you stated that you "can't install from elsewhere". To quote Gibbs " Anything we can afford to lose, see that it's lost".

Your best bet with any device is to build from the ground up, not from the top down.

Start small. Very small. Like the above poster said, build from ground up. If you get overjoyed and start selecting everything at once the ROM will be too big and it might not fit on device. If it does, chances are the device will run like trash.
