Re: Should I give up on VOIP?

Well, here's the last post - mostly for the benefit of anyone else ever trying this on a 6700 and finding this thread with a forum search....

It DOES work. I had to set up a different voip account, different provider (that was more compatible ?)

I did use the software stated above to set it up.

the "internet phone" options never show up on the main screen, or the PHONE settings.

The phone DOES display the VOIP provider set up in Schap's SETUP VOIP application when you go to the DIAL screen - if *and only if* the phone properly connected and registered to your VOIP provider.

( that was the part that killed me - it didn't properly register before, so I just didn't see anything that gave any indication of working or not)

Lastly, once it works, it's really bad. Choppy, bad quality sound

Wrong speaker to boot, the call comes over the rear speaker.

Oh well.

Sound quality is a function of the codecs employed and what else is going on on your ppc. It should act like a regular phone call...speaker being just one of the ways to hear.
