Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
I am using BuildOS in order to flash my 6700 to WM6.1 I updated everything using the updater and build a rom. When I try to upload the rom to my phone I keep getting an "Error 101: Connection Error" Message. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Now I am stuck in the Serial/USB screen. I really need my phone and I have been stuck without it for a day now. Please someone help.

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Reflash with 6 real quick to at least get your phone back. Or use my signature link and hit it with a stock rom. Are you setting the bootloader version correctly?
|
Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
My terminology is a little rusty. Please explain bootloader version. PS. I clicked on your link for the OEM ROM but the Verizon link is dead.

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
The serial/usb screen is the phone being in bootloader mode. At the bottom of the screen it will say v*.** that is the version. Like 1.04 or 2.02 or 2.05, something of those sorts. You have to tell BuildOS what version your bootloader is or it won't work right. And as long as the phone changes from serial to usb when you plug it in, you should be fine.

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Well the rev on BuildOS was set to v1.00 which I though was the problem because my phone is v2.02. But I still get the Error 101. This is so frustrating

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
You still get the error when you set buildos to 2.02 and try to reflash? Try doing a couple of hard resets on the phone first.
|
Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
I appreciate all the help jabu. I did try a couple hard resets but I still have the same problem. One other thing, when the rom is buiding, I do get multiple requests to replace certain files. Is that normal?
|
Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
yes, that is normal.
|
Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Try hitting it with wm6.0, as ut starcom's link for the rom is down.

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
ok I'll try that. Its downloading right now. What do I do after its done downloading. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
it's compressed with winrar. if you don't have it, google it to unzip it. then it should be a .exe file that you just run.

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
OK well I flashed with WM6 and now my phone is working again. I don't know if I am going to attempt WM6.1 due to the horrible experiences I have had. Is it even worth upgrading? What are the benefits?

1) make sure you tell buildos what bootloader version your phone is. 2) make sure it is set up for the right provider, ie Verizon. 3) start small. build a stripped down rom and go from there. 4) if it DOES mess up again, you can always reflash it to 6.0 again! |
Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Many Thanks again! I feel more comfortable having this 6.0 install on my hard drive to fall back on.
|
Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Yeah, as long as you have that 6.0, you'll be fine. Rule of thumb, it takes alot to brick an Apache. Like a lawnmower or dishwasher or such.

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Yes, jabu is right on it. You have to make sure buildOS is gonna do the right RUU.

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Ok well I just tried to flash with WM6.1 again and I got the same Error 101: Connection Error. I did get something different though. Before, I did not get the "your fimware will be flashed from xxxx to xxxx" screen. This time I did but I still get the error. I don't know if I have the wrong settings but I will make a screen capture and show you how it looks like. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94...Selections.jpg

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Try putting you phone in bootloader mode before trying to flash. Press the Record Button, the Power Button, and the Reset button.

Is that vista? Your issue could also be vista related. |
Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
I am using Vista but I will try putting the phone into bootloader before flashing. Thanks for the advice. From what you can see in the screenshot, are all my settings correct?

Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
Not sure if you were the user who made a comment on my youtube video or not...anyhow, this thread here http://www.modaco.com/content/window...ltimate-guide/ has a solution for flashing to .exe ROMS on Vista. I used it for those in ealier days, but it's my understanding you don't need it since the kitchen has is it all. I un-did the solution on my VIsta machine and it worked for me in the kitchen but not when doing like an Official ROM. Try though, you don't have anything to lose at this point.

You are running Vista. Run BuildOS in Administrator mode.

I acctually missed that. I think he actually needs to ry running X.04+ I've never worked with bootloader over 1.04 so I'm not too sure, I think NoID works only with v1.02 and below. Try X.04+ |
Re: Getting Error when trying to flash to WM6.1
I was having the same issue, and the simplest solution worked. I was getting connection error 101 every time I tried to flash WM6.1. I was stuck in the bootloader screen - USB/SERIAL v2.02. I am running windows Vista Home Premium. Phone is PPC-6700 with Sprint. Did a lot of reading through the forum, trying various methods to fix my problem, including running BuildOS with RUU set at No ID and Rev set at each and every version... updating the USB driver (which I couldn't - stuck at Microsoft USB Sync)... and so forth. Even tried to find the original ROM at UTstar.com, but gave up on that... No help.
Finally I tried the easiest solution, which for some reason up to that point I had thought, "it can't be that simple" - I closed BuildOS, then restarted it with Run As Administrator. Worked the very first time, with the rev at 2.02 and RUU at Standard. So simple, I feel like an idiot for wasting the last 2 hours! Anyway, thanks to all! Just wanted to post my solution. |
