Cannot Sync After Upgrading ROM to WM6
 

I have tried the latest kitchen on two Sprint PPC-6700 phones now and I could not sync contacts, calendar, favorites, files etc.

I have tried to sync with XP SP2 and Vista. In both cases ActiveSync connects and I can actually browse the files and folders on the PPC from my desktop PC. I can also sync to Exchange, but it refuses to sync with my desktop. I tried removing the Exchange sync but that did not work. On my XP system I get the following error:

All the information I have found on this error relates to issues with the Exchange sync, but I do not have problems with Exchange sync.

I have also tried unchecking "Enable advanced network functionality" in the USB to PC settings without any luck.

I would really like to use WM6 but if I cannot sync with my desktop it is pretty useless.

I am open for suggestions.

No suggestions huh?

I can also install progs via ActiveSync but I still cannot sync my contacts, calendar, etc. with my desktop PC.

My bootloader is v1.00 on both phones. Is there any other info that would be helpful?

I have attached my selections file for the ROM I generated. I am using BuildOS from 12/17/2007, but I have tried earlier versions as well and had the same problem.

you do have outlook on your desktop right? cause without it all you can do is browse the phone and install progs.
the only other thing i can think of offhand is that after you flashed the rom and hard reset active sync has to go through the phone setup again. if you jsut go through the setup screens without making sure the checkboxes are checked it will prevent you from syncing the contacts and whatnot. i would say remove the device from activesync, reconnect the phone and go through the setup again. worth a shot if you haven't tried it already.

Thanks for the feedback.

I run Outlook 2007 on the Vista system and Outlook 2003 on the XP system.

I have tried removing all profiles from ActiveSync on the PPC. I was able to reconnect and setup ActiveSync again, but still no sync.

One thing that I have noticed is that even though I have removed the Exchange Sync settings from my PPC it still prompts me enter my credentials to login to Exchange when it is trying to sync the PPC. This only occurs the first time after setting up ActiveSync on the PPC.

I decided to uncheck everything that I selected to sync and sync completed without error. I then started adding things back one by one.

Sync worked with the following items selected:
Mobile Favorites
OneNote
Files
Notes

Sync did not work with the follwing items selected:
Contacts
Calendar
E-mail
Tasks

I was really hoping to use WM6, but if I cannot sync my contacts and calendar it is a no go.

Does any of this info give any other clues???

out of curiosity, did you soft reset after you removed the settings?? sometimes that helps. if you did, and it didn't work, i'm at the end of my ideas. reckon i'll think harder.

I tried your suggestion -- removing ActiveSync profile from PPC and soft resetting -- but got the same results. I selected to sync just the contacts and when the sync started the PPC again prompted me to correct my Exchange credentials. Why would it be prompting me for my Exchange credentials???

So I unselected the Contacts and selected Mobile Favorites instead and sure enough the sync worked again. I still doesn't like the syncing contacts, calendar, e-mail or tasks.

sorry bro, i'm at a loss at this point. all i can say is check out those threads and maybe do some heavy searching. i'm sure you'll find an answer. unfortunately, i don't use activesync enough to give you anymore ideas. i'm a linux guy personally.
