Hi, Guys,

Two days ago, I published 2 photos for the 128M RAM upgrading. Now, we published the details as free already. Please check the below link in Chinese.

Hardware:
You could find the memory chip model in the below link. There are some photos which destrib the modify solution, it is easy to understand.
http://www.diypda.com/viewthread.php...extra=page%3D1

Software:
http://www.diypda.com/viewthread.php?tid=8137&page=1

I simply translated it as below:
1) Memory Management in XV6700 (Look at the below character)
2)SDRAM Analysis
3)Connection between CPU with SDRAM
4)Bootloader
5)Bootloader Modify

I attached the bench mark report for 128M RAM 6700.

You could read it via internet translating system and I will publish the English version by this Friday.

Also, there is an WM6.1 XIP for XV6700 download, please refer the below link which is done by Jockey:

wow....the 67 will not die.....but I am pretty sure it required some serious surgery for the memory upgrade.

Does anyone know if the 6700 and the 6800 are close enough in design that this could be a glimmer of hope for the Mogul?

Aha...
Yes, it is "we", not just "I". This job was done by my team. We are testing the upgraded one, so far it is good! But there are still somethings unsolved.
Once we finished the test, we will share the upgraded solution with you.
In order to find the upgraded solution, we lost 3pcs of XV6700, :(! But we are still glad to see it was final sucessful!

For the 6800, I think there are already many peoples are studying it to upgrade the RAM. I saw many threads talking about it. I only can say the design of Mogul is different with Apache, it is more difficult than Apache. But we are trying to do it. Because the Mogul is more expensive than Apache and there are few failed broads can be bought, our progress is slowly...

only kidding, his typo surely meant boards ie devices....

sorry i just couldnt resist.

nice work Arlen, make it happen for the mogul friend!!

So the big ? is what kind of performance change(s) are you seeing? can you post some benchmark screen shots or something?

Very nice looks like I will be going back to my 6700 and retiring my 6800 after this is released.

I want to know the same thing, what kind of performance increase are you seeing? I know WM6 is running fairly slow/sluggish on my ppc6700.

Do you have it stable? I was able to do one mogul but it burned up in 2 hours. I crossed something, what are you using for soldering? I desperately need more broken ppc phones to test with do you have any connections in china to help out by chance? No one is wanting to come off them for me here.

this is pretty sweet. guarantee i could do the physical work, long as someone showed me where to put the chips.

just show the un-verified fix already! My salivation has produced a bath, a pool and this lake I'm swimming in with my king size blowup bed floating into oblivion sipping on some beer with my ppc texting this message to you right now...

Can we get Moguls/HTC Titans sent to China? Come on now, this is not outside the realm of possibility now.

You're trying to work with Moguls on doubling the RAM? Post here as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2&goto=newpost

This goes back a long way, but I seem to remember that soldering the chip in place was only the first challange. Getting the device to fully recognize and USE that ram was the sticking point. This may be why we aren't seeing any benchmark tests.

Do the 6700 I am sure is harder then the 6800. I know what you are saying. I am using stuff out of the tytin2 to figure it out. I just melted the phone on the last attempt before I got far enough to know what to do next. First one was close thought I had it and was out of phones so I used my own phone and got the chip in the phone booted. Flashing the phone process the chip burned up. I could have ruined it during the soldering.

Sorry, in China, the Mogul is more expensive than in USA. I am also looking for the broken boards in ebay.

Re: Good News! Sucess to upgrade 6700 to 128M RAM!

On the mogul, there is no mystery what needs to be done. You need to get a chip with twice the memory. The problem is,there is no chip listed in the Samsung catalog with the proper specifications. The ram is contained in a mcp (multi-chip package) along with the flash rom.

This does not mean that such a chip does not exist,in fact it is suspected that the vogue uses just such a beast.Samsung will in fact make any combination you want. (if you are willing to buy 100 thousand or so) What we are missing is a good high res image of the vogue so we can verify this and get the number off the chip. Once we know what chip it is,and can find a source of them, then its just a matter of putting it in. (assuming that the board of the mogul is wired for the larger chip, which is not certain) This requires a degree of skill, and some equipment that may not be part of the typical hobbyists gear.(it is however readily available)

There is however one additional issue. Since the rom is contained in the package as well, and must be replaced at the same time, the chip will need to be programmed. This can either be done prior to installation or it may be possible to do so after installation if a jtag port can be found in the phone. Its probably best to do it before hand however. This will require an appropriate programmer to be procured or built.

As you can see,the issues are known, and potentially solvable, but random poking about, swapping chips and bricking perfectly good phones will not do the trick.

Arlen: any more news re: this? Did you get the updated ram to run stabily?

And more importantly to me, did you get anywhere with the 6800 / mogul / titan, yet?
