Help Downgrading 6700 to wm5 using card

My verizon 6700 usb plug broke on my phone and I can not get wm5 back on my phone. I read how to upgrade using the mini-sd card to flash to wm6. I need to know how to do this to downgrade from wm6 to wm5.

If someone could post a clone of wm5 using spb clone, we could install it from the executable clone.

I have a similar issue but mine goes the other way...my PPC will no longer recognize my SD card, so I need to restore from my Desktop PC (activesync) since my SD card backup is now useless.. My wife's PPC reads the cards just fine, so card integrity is not the issue.

I've got the insurance to replace the device...but need to go back to WM5 before returning it. But I've used the links to UT Starcom posted by lightbiter in "How do you reflash a XV6700?" and am now back to WM5 with my problem solved.

Hope someone can help you get around the defective usb issue!

this is only for sprint customer

This software is available at http://www.sprint.com/downloads. From the drop down box select "Windows CE" and then select "Submit." When the next screen appears, scroll down to "PPC 6700 software upgrade" and then select "download" to download the file.
Customers should download the file to their laptop/desktop. Next, after connecting the PPC-6700 to the laptop/desktop using the USB cable originally included with the PPC-6700, double-click on the downloaded ".exe" file to start the installation process. Then follow the onscreen instructions. The upgrade procedure takes approximately 20 minutes.

Thanks for trying, but....your post is for PC install...the thread is for flashing via storage card.

Re: Help Downgrading 6700 to wm5 using card

First of all you need a phone with WM5 on it and a 128mb card or larger. Then use MTTY to download the image to your card. You can do the radio, OD and the Ext_ROM but you have to do each on induvidually. Make sure you turn off activesyc. Put your phone into boot loader mode, start mtty, hit the usb button, enter then enter one of the following d2s 60000000 00800000 is for the radio; d2s 70100000 04000000 is for the OS and d2s 74100000 00a00000 is for the EXT_ROM. once you enter those on Mtty it will download each one to a card. You have to flash each rom induvidually. Copy it down from the one with wm5 then copy it to the other one with wm6. So radio - radio, ext-rom - ext_rom and os - os. To flash them up you just put the sd card into the wm6 phone and put it in boot loader wait for it to say to flash your phone them push the power button. and once you have done each of them you have two matching phones.

A related question: Can you flash upgraded kitchen roms via the mini-sd card as well? I am not even sure where the rom file is stored in the new Kitchen these days.

My apache too has a busted usb port, and I am attempting to limp along with it till the touch pro (or what ever the next sprint phone is) rolls out.

Re: Help Downgrading 6700 to wm5 using card

you can flash anything down to a minisd but the files are not able to be read by anything i can fine other than the boot loader. so it has to be done from a phone with the existing rom you want not simply take the file from the kitchen and put it on an sd and there you go. I think the hermes can do that but have not found that you can with the apache as of yet maybe someone else does
