how do u get out of the bootloader screen?

also, my bootloader is v1.00 so what do i pick from the RUU drop down?

You should be able to get out of bootloader with a simple reset. If not see the stuck in bootloader thread. I am not at home to look at my home PC but I think you use standard.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Start up the kitchen and read the About page, GoatDweller. Still want to stand by your post in Rob's thread?

I have been fooling around loading various ROMs for a year or so with fairly good results. I tried the Kitchen a few times but gave up on it for 1 reason or the other. Now since I read the tutorial at the beginning if this thread, I have no problems with the kitchen, except understanding some of the choices. Any way after a couple of builds I got 1 I like and will stick with it for a while. Thank you for the tutorial and comments.
One question, I think ExtRom can be cleaned ought, right? And if you erase it how do you use it, just load to it? Back a few versions ago there were 5 or 6 lines that were required but I think that has changed and is covered by the ability to choose a carrier in the kitchen. Thanks to all that have helped, colonel and other from a while back especially.

Yes you can clean out and use the EXT ROM. Just remember to check that box in the carrier select. then you can go in and erase everything, and reuse the space. It's like having an extra memory card.

Just to clarify for the next person - that's the Ext Rom Unlock selection in the Carrier Customize section (not the carrier dropdown on the toolbar)

There's also a blank_Extrom archive floating around (it used to be on the ftp - not sure if it's still there) that you can flash to your device that will also clean out the extrom.

What's this??? Something NEW to try?? Elaborate some for us nOObs on this EXTROM thing you're talkin about here? How much space am I gonna recoup "cleaning out" extrom?

GaMedic 01-22-2008 05:28 PM

You can empty out your extended rom and use he space for installed programs. I recommend copy and save the files somewhere in case you need to put them back in there for service or something. I emptied mine and put ringtones in there, in a folder called my ringtones of course. Well to make a long story short, I hid my ext rom because if not my email attachments try to go to the ext rom instead of the storage card. Don't know why but it does. Something about ext rom is first to be checked or something. Anyway, it doesn't take long for the ext rom to fill up with the attatchments. Well apparently when you hide the extended rom, you cannot use the ringtones. I don't know if other programs installed there work the same because I pretty much quit testing it. So for me the small amount of space stays as wasted space. maybe I will try it again for giggles.
