Just need some direction

if someone would volunteer some basic information,
I would greatly appreciate it.

I updated my 6700 to the 3.3AKU from VZW - So the rom version
is now 3.14.30 WVE. What do I need to do next before compiling
a new WM6 rom with kitchen.. Do I need to adjust something with
the bootloader partitions? If I could have the concept simplified,
I could easily assimilate what I'm supposed to be doing and get my
head outta my ass.

There's so much information on these boards, but trying to put
your finger of the evolution of the concepts and gather an
understanding is hella difficult. If there is a n00b guide that
starts out something like: "You just got a wild hair up your ass
and decided it's time to start flashing your phone, now what?"
I'm open to that.

I dont think you have to do any pre-reqs at this time. Make sure you know which version of the bootloader is on your phone. If you took the official 3.3 upgrade then I believe you should be running 2.04. If you took the 3.3 upgrade from here that was packaged without the bootloader upgrade then you might be running a different version. The key is when you pick the RUU option in the kitchen.

So now download the WM6 kitchen and OEM and install on your PC. If youre running XP it should be smooth build. If youre running Vista then you need to make sure youre running the latest WDC I believe its called. Check the thread on Vista issues!

Once you have installed the kitchen it will put an icon on your desktop for the BuildOS process. Double click and youre on your way. Make sure if you are running the 1.04/2.04 bootloader that you pick the 04+ RUU option. Standard option works for 2.02 version of the bootloader and I have never had to use the third option.

Follow the bouncing ball and pick the options you want to cook into your own ROM. If you would like to add your own OEMS pickup Tiermann's OEMizer application and install it to the TOOLS directory under BuildOS directory. You can run OEMizer right from the BuildOS dialog box.

Happy cooking!

What problem are you having? The most common problem is not having .Net 2.0 or later installed.

.90 Beta...heh...they're all marked .90 Beta. Look at the version # under the muppet chef (ignore the date - I forgot to update that).

.9.05

I need .net installed on my 6700 in order for the bootloader to work properly?
What happens is:
I place my phone in bootloader mode -
The kitchen compiles the rom -
It begins to start flashing, and then immediately finishes it, and states it is "Finished" -
Phone is never flashed at this point, I reset it, works fine again (In factory spec)

I remember having this issue and .Net solved it for me.

Mechanized 12-19-2007 02:24 PM

So where do I get .net from to move forward?
And this is for the phone right? cause my machine has
all three of the .net versions with patches.

bmtbandit 12-19-2007 02:30 PM

Are you putting your phone into Bootloader Mode?

It should be for your PC on which the kitchen is installed. Ok now I am at a loss. Anyone more informed got a better answer?

And I assumed Mechanized knew about that...you know what happens when you assume!!

Mechanized 12-19-2007 02:33 PM

yes, I place the phone in bootloader mode, and as I said above, the ROM is compiled, attempts to flash, and then immediately says "finished". without ever flashing the phone.
I soft reset the phone, it boots back up, no problem (in factory spec).

bmtbandit 12-19-2007 02:42 PM

I would try reinstalling 2.0. Maybe something got corupted. I have never seen this problem, although I never upgraded my bootloader either. I do know at one point there was an issue with WM6 and the new bootloader. What OS are you running on the computer?

Mechanized 12-19-2007 03:01 PM

Th os is XP Pro 32-bit All service packs and available updates.

Where do I download .Net 2.0 for the phone (?) - Is there a specific version
of .Net 2.0 that is already provisioned for this specific process?

This is not a .Net issue.

What bootloader do you have? ah - I see you have 2.05. Try flashing a minimal ROM and see what happens.

He has 2.05 I believe.

Mechanized 12-19-2007 05:29 PM

If you mean minimal, as in, just a little something for filler, and flash, I'm tracking -

And again - it did not work. Can I possibly downgrade this bootloader?
Is it hemmi'n me up?

gguruusa 12-19-2007 06:02 PM

You can downgrade, there's a thread in the parent forum on downgrading. My understanding is that you shouldn't have to, however.

I assume you have Activesync 4.5 or later.

There's one more thing to try...get the official verizon upgrade, extract the nk.nbh from it, put that in the ruu folder, and try running the ruu directly. If that flashes, then try again from the kitchen, but run the ruu manually (you'll have to do it the automatic way first, then try it manually).

Mechanized 12-19-2007 10:27 PM

allright - i'm pretty sure that i got it right the first time, i'm a pretty
apt tech. Buuuut - I want to second guess myself, just-in-case. (for fun!)
Could I have possibly downloaded the wrong kitchen and OS?
Can someone link me the correct kitchen and patched OS? I just
want to be absolutely sure i'm using the right versions. Then i'll be
more than ready to pretend i'm doing something work related tomorrow,
downgrading my boot loader.

gguruusa 12-19-2007 10:48 PM

Post 1 of the stickies at the top of the forum. Always current!

Not likely you guessed wrong...if you have a new buildos, it's WM6 for the Apache and should work.

Mechanized 12-20-2007 09:11 AM

Yeah I had it right - I guess i'm downgrading this Bootloader - will post back in a few

Mechanized 12-27-2007 05:10 PM

All right - I followed the directions and successfully
downgraded my Bootloader to version 2.02. I ended
up getting stuck in bootloader a few times and ended
up using the "exit bootloader" utility a few times.

So, no when I put the phone in bootloader mode and
attempt to flash the phone with kitchen, it fails. It
fails using any RUU mode. And jumping through all the
hoops has landed me with, not allot. :D
The good news is that the phone is not bricked.

http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imagetg5.jpg

After getting this error, the phone locks in bootloader mode,
and then I have to reset again

Please advise -

Verify you selected Verizon in the toolbar.

Yes, I did - I even chose all three of the RUU options and selected verizon
in the carrier customize section. Or is that incorrect?

He's no worse off than he started (except for some time wasted).

That's correct. Your problem should be improper carrier configuration (the toolbar carrier selection), given that error message. Just for fun, try selecting <default> (or blank or whatever no carrier is) in the toolbar carrier dropdown. That will pull up the old encoder tool - navigate to the verizon .prj file (I think it's in a subdirectory of tools) and encode. See if that will flash.

If that doesn't work, try flashing any custom pre-built Verizon ROM. That'll tell us if it's your phone or not.

Yes , I am 100% sure I got it right the first time -
To try the 'Just for fun' resulted with the following:

Correct the file paths for the nk.fat and nk.nba.

Mechanized 01-03-2008 10:40 AM

I have gotten nowhere, and I am pretty sure my phone is messed up.
How can I get this back to factory spec? Not even the verizon rom will work
at this point.

gguruusa 01-05-2008 06:09 PM

Try to load just the verizon Radio, then just the verizon OS. If you can't do that, visit your local repair facility.
