Email setup with Kitchen
I want to know if I can setup my email settings in the Kitchen so that when I do a hard reset I don't have to re-enter all those settings. I use Charter so I have to use Verizon's smtp for sending mail. So I have to setup for incoming and outgoing emails. Big pain. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Any ideas?

I don't know if this will work for POP email, but I did a reg dump once I had my Apache configured and pulled all my Exchange information off. I just searched the dump file for my server address and copied all the information in that key, so in theory you could do the same looking for smtp.verizon.net or whatever the POP and SMTP servers are you use.
I put it all into my custom rgu file so now when I hard reset, I only have to enter my password for ActiveSync. You could have a go at that. |
Ok this is way over my head. How do you do a reg dump and where would I find the file after doing so?

Compared
Ok I used dillsoft to dump and compared with windiff and I see a lot of differences but don't know what I am looking for.

For me, I dumped the file and searched for any keys with our Exchange server in them. There was only one under ActiveSync, so I copied that entire entry into my rgu file and it saved all settings except for my password. That's using Exchange though. I don't know if it would even work for POP email.
Search for your POP or SMTP server address and see what's listed. Post it back without your user name or anything else that will show your information and see if anyone has suggestions. |
yeah they were not in there. Worth a try though. Thanks
