general questions
hey guys Im pretty new to the wm6 scene, i have colonel's 3.5 rom installed and I really like all the programs it comes with and I just wanted to upgrade to wm6 for stability.
So I just want to make sure that what im doing is right. I'm going to install the Wm6 no junk version. I backed up all my information using sprite backup. Then im going to install the wm6 no junk generic version (for my alltel 6700) and restore the sprite backup. I shouldn't have any problems right? Is that the best route is there something I'm missing? There seems to be a couple versions of wm6 for apache itd be nice to have a sticky explaining their differences (pros/cons) |
ok so that didn't work it didn't install all the apps like the icon is there the link just broken so im going to try this:
-install wm5 (colonel) -restore backup -clear temp files (save space) -create sbu file (for sprite) -create another backup/backup sbu -find out best wm6 distro -intergrate alltel cabs into wm6 -install wm6 -restore backup |
Don't do the last step. If you use a WM5 backup on a WM6 rom you're asking for trouble. For files, sure. For anything system related, don't....
|
oh i see, well i figure sprite has the whole restore feature for different roms
So how would i be able to xfer all the nice programs from colonel's custom rom to a new wm6 rom w/o actually having to list them, find them and donwloading them via google? And Id still like to get a better response on what the differences between the different wm6 roms are |
wait for a bit official kitchen for wm6 coming soonish then you can integrate the apps you want into the rom
|
Yeah the best bet is to wait for the official wm6 kitchen. It'll be a bit more stable than the currently wm6 roms floating around right now.
|
if i dl the current rom and intergrate what i need into it, when the official rom comes out can't i just install that and restore a sprite backup from the previous wm6 rom?
so just to make sure the official rom is the helmi release? and right now that is in 0.7, gotta wait for 1.0 right? |
