Re: How much memory does an average app take up?

It depends on the app for the storage. Regular apps can be anywhere from 100Kb to 3+Mb.

Games can be the same, but up to like 10Mb or more. iGo, once fully installed, is like 30Mb.

Hopefully Google will allow us to install to the SD card natively soon.

Right now you can install to the SD card depending on the ROM you use, so you have to be unlocked. You have to partition your SD card though. You need an ext2, ext3, or ext4 partition, then the rest can still be fat32. The ROM has to have app2sd enabled.

Basically, when you unlock you install a recovery partition in order to be able to flash ROMs. From there you can format your card too.

So I have about 120Mb free of internal storage and I made a 1Gb ext4 partition on my card for apps and still have about 700Mb free with quite a few apps and games installed, including iGo.

Why do you choose igo over google navigator? I use igo now on my tp2. is it better?

Re: How much memory does an average app take up?

I just prefer to have an option with the maps stored on my memory card rather than relying on the network. I've been to places where NO carrier has service, so Google Navigator wouldn't work at all there.

I tried CoPilot too. Its storage footprint is smaller (about 18Mb), but I found its maps more dated. The Q2 2009 Navteq maps I found for iGo seemed more current than the Q4 2009 ones that CoPilot says they use. CoPilot couldn't find a few streets in Illinois and Missouri while iGo did.

For WM iGo vs Android, I actually prefer the WM version. There's no TTS in Android yet and you can't skin it like you can the WM version.

Like mind said... like 200k to 3mb games more....

I got like 35 apps installed and still have 70mb left and the phone is still major fast.... I'm not rooted either....

Edit:47 apps to memory and its still way fast
