Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows Phone OS 7.0; Trident/3.1; IEMobile/7.0; HTC; mwp6985))

We covered the unbranded Mozart Mango ROM the other day and now like dominoes, the rest are here too--well most of them. Yes folks, leaked "final" builds of Mango updates for numerous HTC devices are now available for your unauthorized usage, meaning you are taking matters into your own hands.

What these ROMs (7720.68) offer over the RTM build is of course updated radios, some HTC customizations, presumably specific APIs for things like the compass and other unique tweaks to improve the Mango experience. So here's what's available:

7 Pro - RUU_Gold_S_HTC_Europe_3.02.401.01_Radio_5.69.09.29 a_22.50.50.21_Signed_GOLD_RELEASE.exe
Mozart - RUU_Mozart_S_HTC_Europe_4.06.401.00_5.69.09_RELEAS E.exe
Mozart - RUU_Mozart_S_HTC_RUS_4.06.411.00_5.69.09_RELEASE.e xe
HD7 - RUU_Schubert_S_HTC_Europe_4.05.401.02_Radio_5.69.0 9.29a_22.50.50.21_Signed_SCHUBERT_RELEASE.exe
Trophy - RUU_Spark_S_HTC_Europe_4.06.401.00_5.69.09_RELEASE .exe
Trophy - RUU_Spark_W_S_VERIZON_WWE_2.01.605.04_2K_new_parti tion_RELEASE.exe
Most of those are Europe-only ROMs, so take heed but look at that last one--yup, for once Verizon HTC Trophy (review) users get something early! Head on over to XDA for all the goodness.

well the one for the arrive isn't in that list. I'm guessing USCC will be last since they're the last post paid carriers to get a wp7

Tempting if it has the final tweaks. I just noticed this yesterday and just have not had a chance to even really research it. Unless someone else installed it, I'm not going to brick my phone.

Also it depends on the sideloading, I'm unlocked and it breaks my unlimited sideloading, I'll stick with the current RTM till a workaround is done.

And, as I understand it...if the build is 7720.68, it's not the carrier release. 7720.68 is the Microsoft RTM, not the carrier/OEM release.

So some homework needs to be done. after all the Verizon Roms listed bfore on XDA would of bricked your phone or put it in a perm demo mode.

Sure, I'll play, This is not an offical rom (well, not till its proven), so no one as of yet....

This is also verizon we are talking about who made it known that they were not interested in Windows Phone 7

Edit: Verizon user claimed it worked fine....

Re: HTC Shipped Mango Roms Leak, Including The Verizon HTC Trophy

I did enough homework to possably install. Here's what I found out.

It does update firmware/Radio, so it might be worth installing for Verizon users if you have questionable coverage/really bad battery life. It could fix a lot of dumb hardware issues with the phone. A few verizon users have installed this and reported no problems, actually, better perfomance (questionable because the phone was nuked back to factory, AKA a clean phone, so till real tests, it's questionable)

It will NUKE your phone, there is NO upgrade path. It's not like 7712 or 7720, it's a fresh install. This kind of holds me back a little, Yea, I'm dev unlocked but with the CustClear.provxml method, I can get unlimited sideloading and un-cerfieied app install. This I will not be able to do with this version and it's something that I need (too many dev apps that I can't live with out).

For Sprint Arrive users, You have the "Gold_C" so you would be looking for a rom for that. The Gold_W is the GSM version of the 7Pro, if you install this, you will brick your phone, so you have been warned. There is No Sprint rom that has been released.

As for me, I am waiting (I need my unlimited sideloading).....My phone devloped a line down the center of the display and 2 bad pixels. I need to call up insurance again. Maybe I will try it for a day or 2 before sending it back.

Oooh, I wish the Gold_C Arrive ROM was part of the list. Oh well, RTM Mango has been perfect for me as-is... the only benefit for me would be HTC's official tweaks.

I'd like a leak for the Sprint HTC Arrive also. Still the burning question for me is whether or not the Hidden Wi-Fi REALLY is enabled with these "final" leaks:protest:. Off to research it out....... I need my Ad-hoc connection!

Re: HTC Shipped Mango Roms Leak, Including The Verizon HTC Trophy

same here. Right now, I figure, if Sprint doesn't roll it out by October(ish), I'll probably end up going Apple or Droid. There's just too many things lacking right now for me. I like the phone and OS is nice, but it's lacking in many things. I'm hoping that Mango fixes that. The hidden WiFi is a glaring example.

I know, many of my issues with the OS are mainly due to my being "Old Fashioned". I don't want to have to jump through hoops to be able to do with my phone, many of the same things I've been able to do with my PDA's/Phones for the prior 10+ years. I like being able to have my contacts and schedules on my computer and having it sync with my phone when I plug it in and vice-verse. I don't like relying on "The Cloud" for this. I don't use an Enterprise server. I'm basically a Home user that does use it for my job (Health Care) mainly for reference software like Tarascon for my own uses. It's not something given to me by my employer. Part of my dislike for Clouding is that I don't like the idea of having to put my life completely online. Granted, my schedule is pretty boring. Work, On Call, Family Medical Appointments, School Schedule, Little League. Pretty boring. But, being online, leaves it open to hacking, fishing and other risks to being taken by others. And? What if I haveing a meeting setup with a Naked Midget with a fetish? I might need to put that into my schedule, do I need to make that a point to risk making it public knowledge? Really.

Seriously though, My only other big peeve is the inability to sync word files. I shouldn't have to load my notes to the clouds in order to get them on my phone. I would love to be able to use something like the Windows Mobile Device Center, but again, I have to jump through hoops to get my phone Unlocked so I can do simple things that should not be an issue.

I'll stop now before it starts to sound like a rant. I actually really do like the phone, it just doesn't sound like it all the time.

If there is just too many lacking things, just go to Android or iphoney if that is what you want. Dont threaten, just do it.

This release is a leak, not an official one. Microsoft has a big push to get mango in everyone's hands ASAP (marketplace is already showing Mango apps and new apps are not being sold with out mango support). You never know, the rumor is the 15th for all carriers, I guess time wil tell.

The general thoughts on this release, for the Verizon trophy is....Awsome..

Better perfomance, better battery life, DLNA support (really this is a shocker ??), Hidden wi-fi, and more.

A worthy upgrade from what I have been reading....

I personally want my contacts and appointments etc. to have real time syncronization with the cloud so that all of my devices and computers are up to date. Being a Windows Mobile / Pocket PC user since the iPaq 3630 way back when I was used to doing the Activesync all the time. It was really inconvienient because you'd go to put an appointment or contact into Outlook and all the sudden you forgot to put your phone on the sync cradle and you ran out the door without the important piece of information. Not fun!
We ditched our 2003 SBS for Office 365 and migrated to Microsoft CRM Online. No chance on looking back!

Anyways, yes, if the fear that losing your data in the cloud, theft, or other bad stuff could happen than it's definitely best to find a different solution. It seems as most stuff is going that way so we've embraced it. I really find it hard to believe that "don't be evil" G:angry7::angry7:gle can keep all of ones data safe just as much as any other can. Anyone can get hacked.... Ask Sony.

hidden wifi will be coming with the official release, as for the cloud like what @dtrush was saying ur data can still be hacked if someone really wants it,even if it's on ur PC and as for documenting ur life online this isn't true because alot of the stuff synched between WP and the hotmail calendar is private unless u choose to share it so no worries there.

DLNA support? WOW I thought that was a hardware limitation, now I can laugh at all the if you don't have an iPhone commercials.

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. When I got the Trophy, I was disapointed that I did not have DLNA (even tho I dont have anything YET that uses it at home) and nothing that I read said it supported it. It is not even listed on HTC as a feature. I thought it was in the list of Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 manatory features tho and HTC's chipset used has it but, I dont think it was enabled.

ca2l3vin on XDA (on the leaked rom thread) says that it works...

xda-developers - View Single Post - HTC Shipped Mango ROMs

So, on the Trophy, a lot better performance than RTM (I'd bet due to correct drivers), better battery life (confirmed by 2 people), Better signal (Firmware/Radio update ?), Color Banding Fixed/Better, DLNA support, Hidden Wi-Fi access. HTC Attentive Phone app will install to settings instead of being an App.

So, Verizon HTC Trophy users who are running RTM, This is what you were looking for.

I"m still waiting on seeing if there is a way to Unlock sideloading limits then I will be going too (need to order a new phone anyway) if I order a new phone, I'll try it for day or 2...

Wow! Don't be so sensitive. I doubt I'd be any better with Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Symbian or any of the other OS's out there on smartphones. I use Windows. I've been using it since I migrated to DOS3.0 on my 4.66/10Mhz Acer Xt, from my Commodore 64. I use MS mobile OS's also. Have been since Windows CE. What I find frustrating the most is the relative inability for a home user to truly, easily, sync the wanted data onto the newer WP7 PDA/Smartphones. Unlike dtrush, I never experienced the lack of sync only because I always used my computer to charge my devices so, every time I plugged mine in, it synced. Granted, I don't have a lot of constantly changing Contacts, Appointments, schedules. Mine mainly updated medical reference programs and such.

I would create documents on my phone or on my computer and they would sync without a problem. I have not been able to recreate that ease and ability with the new OS. Would it be any better if I were an Apple Mac user and using the iPhone platform also? Or, do they require the same steps to get information back and forth between the two? I don't know. If someone does, please educate me on it. I'd appreciate it.

Like I said in my original post on this, I just find it frustrating that a Windows 7 Professional computer does not easily sync with a Windows Phone 7 other than adding songs on your playlist. It should be so much more than that. Maybe with DLNA, when I upgrade to a newer computer they will communicate later. I'll wait and see. I think, now, if I could just get my Arrive unlocked so I could use the Windows Phone Device Manager, many, if not most, of my issues with the OS would be eliminated. Zune just doesn't do it for me.

It does do a lot more than that, but his point is that the way you're doing it is cumbersome for no good reason. I do fully understand your concerns, but they invalidated by the fact that everything you do with most of what you sync hits the cloud at some point anyway... especially where email is concerned.

The exact opposite of your argument is also true... it's more protected because if your house burns down or your computer crashes, you didn't just lose all your data.

So you give and take a little. If you're concerned about hackers, you use good passwords and never save or share them, but if you think it's safer on your PC than in the cloud, you've been misled. As for availability of the cloud, well, there you have a point, BUT the whole point of these devices is that it makes things available in an offline state as well... something that most of the other competitors don't make as easy.

I'm not being sensitive, I'm just stating the way it is. If your a Anroid fan, then sell you device and change over. Nothing personal but, there is too many Android fanboys trashing WP7, that I just gave up on the fact that that I am defending it. I'm actually shocked that Eric didn't comment on it.

I agree with you on the basics, I am also a person who started out on Dos 3.0 (I had Atari computers before my first 286 PC), and Windows 3.1 (windows 1 and 2 totaly sucked but for it's time, it was cool). I also had the first PocketPC 1.0 (Windows Portable) device and STILL HAVE IT (it's worthless on ebay). I have had every version of PocketPC, Windows Mobile. I have seen it every step of the way, so I am also a old timer when it comes to these devices.

There are some things that I miss from 6.5, like your saying, to be able to sync files(documents with out going to the cloud, this is pretty huge for me too) and some basic stuff, like file management (like the first one), Remote desktop, etc.

As I agree with you, and I am very passionate about it, I do not threaten to go to the others. My wife has a iPhone, my Sister has Android and I have played with them both. I stil can honestly say, I can not see the appeal of the iPhone.

Now you know how I stand on that one.

Let's keep this subject on track, the discussion of lacks of features or changing to something else is for a new thread, not about the leaked HTC roms with Mango final on them.

You can give and take but, adding to the cloud makes things more complex for people. Why not make it easy for the customer???? Very simple, I have documents in my "My Documents" that I want to access/Edit on my phone. With 6.5, I could pretty much Check the files to sync, or move/copy them over to a folder in "My Documents", wow that is just so easy and no real security risks AT ALL (unless someone hacks your home computer). When I re-connect my phone, it syncs my data back, What is complex about this ?

Now the cloud, I need to open a web browser, log into a site, select "upload files" browse to one file (as most can't do batches of files) and repeat step by step over for each of the files. Then I also have to worry about the file on my PC is not updated, so after I work on it on my phone I have to re-download it to my computer. No true sync with my PC, maybe with the cloud but, not my PC.

Then I have to worry about a website indexing the content of the files for easier searching (now this can be abused for advertising and other used of the service is hacked), and worry about a password being not too strong.

As I partly agree, yes, if my home burns down, there is a very good chance I could lose my data, I take this risk but, if My house burns down, I could be in it and it would not really matter anyway.

I think forcing everything on the cloud should be an option, not manatory. I have a file on my PC, it's a pain in the ass to put it on my phone. I see this as a major step backwards.

I think we share much more in common than not. I think you explained my predicament better than I did. Like I said in a previous post, this is still all new to me and find it a raving PITA at times. I really haven't worked hard with the new phone only because I've come into it in a huge transitional phase. I hope that once the updates and Mango are up and running, I'll be able to figure it all out.

With everyone's help of course.

Eventually, I'll get my phone unlocked so I can use the Windows Phone Device Controller, or whatever it's called. I'm away from my main PC now where I have it installed but not functioning. That looks like it would work similar to the old Remote Desktop.

Anyway, I can't wait to see how this all rolls out. I was never actually at the beginning of an OS before like this is. Even now, I come in at the tail end of the beginning.

oh u must not have seen me on the front page, I commented on it but I'm getting tired of it too. even on wpcentral there's haters or spec haters.

No, I missed it, sorry. I know the mods are going to give me crap for this (I get a PM every time I say something) but, it's the truth, so be it.

I dont read the news on the front page any more, It's so outdated and they only post the news they want. Even the DOJ block of AT&T/TMOUS, huge news on every site, this site just didn't even see it. As I look at it today, it's been over 12 days from the post of new news, and trust me, there has been a lot of mobile news over that time. Maybe they are short handed but, you do it or dont do it, there is no inbetween when it comes to News.

So, sorry, I didn't see it. I like this site but, front page news should not be something they do. If I want news, WPcentral or Engadget gets me about 90% of new mobile news.

It's cool, yes, I know how you feel and I agree with most of it. If you want any input or help from me, and others, don't threaten to go over to Android or the iPhoney because if you feel that way, then just go. We dont need the threats. We get enough bashing from Android and iPhoney users.

Fair ?

its mostly fandroids now that do the majority of the bashing, I rarely see the iSheep bashing it. on wpcentral there was a Symbian person bashing it.

Re: HTC Shipped Mango Roms Leak, Including The Verizon HTC Trophy

So, I ordered my new phone yesterday. So last night, I installed the leaked HTC rom for my Vzw Trophy.

It shows hidden Wi-Fi (you can add up to 3 hidden wi-fi spots), it seems a little faster and complete.

Notes:
-Battery life overnight noticed better, talked on the phone for over an hour and battery still showed very strong.
-Seems a little faster, more refinded than the beta (smoother animations)
-Hidden Wi-Fi
-Local Scout icon on the home screen.
-Help+How-to in the start menu
-Could not check out DLNA due to not getting access to the HTC app

It does seem like it would be the release, it does seem to be more finsihed. WIth this being said, I will be rolling back to the RTM for now.

The limits of 3 sideloading apps is too much for me. There is a lot of devs on XDA who make some cool apps that are not in the marketplace (never mind the nes emulator). There is no mod as of yet for these Leaked roms, if it was a upgrade, it would not be an issue.

I liked the battery and performance upgrades and I am sure there are more, I do wan to run it but, when it's hacked, I'll jump to it right away, it's worth it in that aspect. If there was a mod that worked today, I would not go back.

For the modding on the RTM, I get about 99% of the features and dont have to worry about the sideloading issue till the hackers get it done.

Edit: If you want to try any of the HTC apps for Mango, HTC Watch, HTC Locations, HTC Connected Media (DLNA support), HTC Attentive Phone (mango in the settings menu)

I found a way to grab them from the marketplace and posted them on XDA... see my post here (don't forget to hit thanks on XDA)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=274

You need to be unlocked to sideload them....

Nice. Sounds like some of my wishes will come true. After the official release, I'll work on unlocking my phone and putting it to work. Thanks for the report and confirmation.

Re: HTC Shipped Mango Roms Leak, Including The Verizon HTC Trophy

NOTE !!!! WARNING !!!! Read Very clearly about this update. Once you upgrade to this, there is NO rolling back to NoDO. I will repeat, There is no way to roll back to a older version of Windows Phone 7.

This does some changes to your phone, like update the firmware and radio. NoDo will not restore or a 7720.68 (from the upgrade method) backup will not restore.

I was trying to roll back to NoDO to go back to RTM (7720) so I could get my unlock back and it just fails. Thank god I have a new phone on it's way (I'm sure it will have NoDo on.

Yea, I would be interested to know if you coudl flash a rom back after upgrading to mango. There is a lot of radio/firmware changes, so it might not be possable even for you to roll back.

It was different with a TP2, as you were replacing the image, not the firmware/radio (I know the radios could be changed easy tho)

This is still pretty new to me (flashing roms) with WP7, so not sure yet...

I just wanted to give people a heads up on it tho... Someone who wanted a unlocked phone could be stuck with a locked phone (even a Dev unlocked phone is still pretty locked down)

Re: HTC Shipped Mango Roms Leak, Including The Verizon HTC Trophy

Will you be returning that phone when the new one comes in? If not, I wonder if the phone will act differently after the official ROM is released with the other HTC/Verizon U.S. files are added.

Re: HTC Shipped Mango Roms Leak, Including The Verizon HTC Trophy

So, after flashing to the new ROM with the radio /firmware update, have you had a chance to try out anything that might make the battery warm like before? I was just thinking about this as I sat here at work listening to iHEART Radio and started to notice how warm my Left Nipple was becoming with the phone in my shirt pocket.

No, when you get a replacement phone, you need to send back the old one or they charge you full retail for the phone. I get like 10 days to send it back.

There might be a method to get it unlocked that I am looking into. Till then I will be running the RTM upgrade via Zune.

Not that I noticed but, I have to ask....Did you enjoy your nipple getting warm ? (sorry I had to)..

VERIZON USERS: A possable issue with this rom. It's happend to 2 of us so far but, still trying to confirm it with other users. The phone just drops 3G and a resetting the phone does not bring it back (might need a hard reset to fix ?). It happend with me on my last day (before activating my replacement), the 3G logo would stop showing and even picture messging and other tasks would fail.

If you run into this issue, Please report back here or XDA.

IT'S SUGGESTED THAT YOU AVOID THE VERIZON ROM AT THIS TIME, as there is no way to roll back to NoDO

Re: HTC Shipped Mango Roms Leak, Including The Verizon HTC Trophy

yea if u do alot of streaming over EVDO the battery will warm up a little bit especially if the signal is less than average and if the towers aren't overloaded (of course if they were u probably wouldn't be able to stream)

JohnMcD348 09-16-2011 07:48 PM

Re: HTC Shipped Mango Roms Leak, Including The Verizon HTC Trophy

I thought I read somewhere that the general consensus was that the reason the battery was heating up so bad had to do with the radio in them drawing so much power to stay connected with the towers. Wondered if the Radio update helped with that problem. Or was it actually speculation? I think I read it back a few weeks ago when I first started researching and learning about my new phone.

I don't really remember the actual details at the moment.
