Yea.. as if the iphone and Android are just going to be stagnant while MS makes improvements lol. Text to speech and voice recognition? Message integration? 30 fps web browsing? Im not going to be funny this time but you do realize most if not all of this Android already does right? Not to mention Ice Cream Sandwich is coming this year and the implementation of full NFC technology.. thats already present in the Nexus.

Re: WP7 Mango (WP 7.1) 500+ features press release today !

The big news is that WP7 will have many features that iOS/Android already have yes, but they also integrate them in a much more user friendly way. Also many features weren't yet mentioned today, so it will be interesting to see the rest come out slowly over the coming weeks, not to mention new hardware which is always nice. NFC was already rumored to be coming as well so I would expect to see that official in the near future also.

Either way, Android is nice, has it's pros and cons, like all things, but I think MS is doing things pretty well considering they are starting from behind, they are quickly catching up and in some ways IMO surpassing the competition in terms of useability. You have to think from the common consumers perspective not just from the techie, power-user vantage, we have different wants and needs often times vs. what the average consumer does.

I for one, think having several good choices in the market is for the best and drives competition among each other, the very spirit and intent of the free market society we hope to embody. I know people have their favorites and always try to one-up the other guy, but you can't say that WP7 isn't shaping up to be a major player anymore, regardless if it will eventually be #1, 2, 3 or whatever in market share.

Re: WP7 Mango (WP 7.1) 500+ features press release today !

Existing hardware isn't changing. LOL.
Yeah... MS has set up new requirements and has a new list of hardware partners.
Including Nokia and qualcom which will release the next gen WP7 phone.

Yeah... I wouldn't begin the count down just yet. Microsoft has alot of money to throw away and they usually don't hit the nail on the head on their first swing... But sometimes they hit the nail on the second swing and drive it ALL the way in... Think XBOX. They are far from taking the number one spot from Android... But 3rd place is quite comfortable. Especially for a branch of their business.

Yeah they already posted a new "Gen 2" minimum spec (keyword minimum) and also mentioned today that new phones will be coming this fall with mango already loaded. The Skype deal I think will take a little longer to have it's full effect. We'll see a Skype app. as already shown at MIX11, then sometime post-Mango will be another update with Skype more integrated into the OS hubs and such. Front facing cams are already rumored to be coming on the next gen phones this fall so I suspect some will and some won't initially, but once Skype is fully baked in, they will mostly all have them unless targeted maybe to a lower end buyer or something.

pfft as if, we dont know all of the 500 features that are included yet, but it will probably surpass android and iOS in terms of being user friendly. all of the features of android without all the fragmentation and unsecureness with it.

hes just a little butthurt that wp7 is going to dethrone android within a few years and now will have the same features in a much more user friendly package

Re: WP7 Mango (WP 7.1) 500+ features press release today !

Either way... Trolling never helps anyone and it just makes you look threatened.
I was a fanboi of MS for the longest time... Now I rock an Android. I can't tell you what'll be in my pocket in a year or two. It's just going to have to be something that works for ME. Regardles of what anyone else tells me.
I know lots and lots of iPhone users. I was never swayed. The only thing I covet is their battery life and the accessories available for the os.
But It doesn't matter cuz I have a choice.
That's the beauty of it all and the beauty of this site.

Re: WP7 Mango (WP 7.1) 500+ features press release today !

No problem here I am passionate about WP7, I wish I could get a WP7 with a beta....

If you look on the home page to PPCGeeks, they still don't show anything, shows ya how much this site cares about Microsoft and Windows phone 7.

I don't know about you but, this is pretty huge news when it comes to Windows Phone 7...

AZTECHKA 05-24-2011 06:35 PM

Re: WP7 Mango (WP 7.1) 500+ features press release today !

Yeah... Some have complained to staff about that in particular... I think it's hard for staff to please everyone at once... But as WP7 gains momentum I see things getting a little bit better here.

***** UPDATE - Actually I just checked the front page and saw 7 articles about microsoft and at least 4 related to WP7 and or Mango.

Yea, they finally posted up about mango (about 8-10 hours later)....

Anyway, back to the subject on hand. "Bing Vision" looks pretty cool

Windows Phone Mango and Bing Vision hands-on -- Engadget

THis could make my life better, I always look for the best deal, and if I can hop in a store, take a shot and search the net for the best price, that would save a ton of $$ over the year.

Yeah... I use google shopper from time to time... Unfortunatelly I didn't have my EVO during the holiday shopping season so didn't get a chance to use it. But I really like bing and use it on my PC and on my EVO and that feature will only make it more appealing.

I had a pretty busy work day yesterday and wasn't able to get the story up until later than I wanted to.

Dave, please tip us on stuff like this if you see it, we'd love to get more WP7 stuff on the front page.

I really am psyched about Mango and I think there's already been a port coming to my HD2 (the NoDo port has been pretty awesome), but yeah, I really love the direction MS is going now and would love to get more WP7 content here as well as development, which we are working on making a reality :)

It's good to hear this from members of the staff and make me feel like this trully isnt an Android based site but a site for all portable devices including phones and tablets from ALL manufacturers.
Thanks for the update Orange or Green or back to Orange or whatever your name is today... I think I'll just call you kid. LOL.

Thanks kid.

I feel the same way. I'm going to get the evo3d and wait for a non kb wp7 phone to hit Sprint.

Same here bro... That's what I'm waiting for... But I really don't like the Nokia offerings which is what most likely Microsoft will push out.
So I'll wait.
Android has been nice to me... But I really do want to give WP7 a shot too.

the nokias do sound good but I don't think im willing to part from HTC . there will be some 4G phones with wp7 coming next year while it does sound nice I probly won't get one since 4G isn't really available where I live or even 3G for that matter lately. EDGE level speeds even tho the sprint coverage map says im under 3G coverage with outstanding connectivity which is a joke.

Re: WP7 Mango (WP 7.1) 500+ features press release today !

I'm easily influenced visually... Which is why I give gTen such a hard time about her epic. LOL... (freudian slip (her) I'm leaving it in).

I just don't like the shape of the nokia phones. I may change my mind once I see it in person... But I want the same form factor the EVO gives me.

Big screen and thin profile. If Sprint had the HD7 I would have picked that up instead.

But we'll see what's around the corner.

Besides my lack of good Verizon coverage where I live (a major stress of my TP2), the Touch Pro 2 as been a awsome phone and no question I would prefer a HTC phone over anything else (even my last HTC phones were built really good).

Unless there was a "must have" feature that HTC does not or wont offer, that would be the only way I would pick another brand.
