Questions...

1. When will Verizon get a Window phone 7 model or 2 ?? (I guess you can ask about Sprint too but, not that I need it)
2. When will the "copy and paste" release hit ?

I think CDMA device releases are the biggest thing on everyone's mind at this point... It's hard to know what exactly to ask when we can't get hands-on first

When is the update coming?

Re: Microsoft's Brandon Watson will be on the next PPCGP! Ask your Qs!

1. Update frequency
CNET news has quoted that there will be three updates instead of two (as initially posited by Paul Thurott). What should the end user believe?
2. What are the specific details about NoDo and Mango (unless the latter is under NDA)
3. What are your options in lieu of the closing of Chevron? Will these be implemented in NoDo or Mango
4. How do you feel about communities such as ppcgeeks or xda-developers that thrive on modification of the "stock" mobile OS?
5. When are users to expect devices with higher specifications (dual core, NFC, and so on)
a.) in lieu of the changes in technology, would you be able to give a possible hypothesis of the new standard HW for wp7?
b.) In terms of legal issues, has Microsoft had any issues with XDA/PPCGEEKS to the point of issuing C&D letters against "developers"
c.) will there be more native code implemented to third party developers like OEMs?
6. With the changes in CDMA (LTE with verizon, sprint possibility and wimax for current sprint customers), will WP7 have support for these technologies in the Mango update due to support in "new" qualcomm chipsets (7x30 series I believe)
7. Zune experience seems to be lacking for users that listen to music from countries outside of America (like J-POP or B-POP). Will there be live tile support for US customers in the Zune interface? E.G. User has a song that's from another country, will Zune pre-fetch data if the musician/artist is added into the country zune marketplace?
8. Will there be support for avi (divx) codec? Or FLAC/OGM/MKV support in marketplace?
9. What suggestions do you give for users that can't access all of the Zune marketplace functions?
10. For many in America, bing maps seems to be a viable alternative for users, but many argue that google maps has a better system and more options. Will microsoft do anything to beef up bing map usability?
11. What about bing map support for other countries? In Poland, bing maps has been deemed almost useless. How would the development team correct usability in other countries
12. Will there be a microsoft skydrive program that allows users to sync and download their data via skydrive?
13. Recently, li'msn was pulled from marketplace. Can you clarify on why? Would you know?
a.) Will microsoft offer a TRUE messenger client (MSN) for the mobile device?
14. Any reason why programs on different platforms (iphone, android) from microsoft are so much better than on microsoft's own brand? Like msn, notes, and bing?
15. How do you feel about the current mobile clientele and what future options dodes microsoft have to increase capital on wp7 sales?
16. SD cards are a thing of trouble for users - with many that have legally or illegally updated their device sd card slot reporting some crashing and general slow loading. With these errors, will microsoft standardize nand memory?
For now I think that's more than plenty. I'll edit this post when I have more questions

i'm dealing with them in the "we have a better phone but we have a shiny screen but our processor can't handle a simple update" thread.

Ok, It's Monday....Any idea on a time frame when this "big news" will be released ?

Nothing on any of the other "gadget" or phone sites about Microsoft releasing news today.

I was really looking for a time frame to expect it.

Re: Microsoft's Brandon Watson will be on the next PPCGP! Ask your Qs!

Another question that cropped up in lieu of the recent news regarding the first 50 days of wp7 sales vs wm
WM does have a higher marketshare currently than wp7. What does microsoft have planned for improving marketshare for wp7 for the immediate long run?
Has microsoft seen success with the "really" commercials and the current advertising campaign targeting wp7 to mostly business users, parents, and professionals?
Why didn't microsoft emphasize marketing toward an adolescent/early adult demographic like apple iphone and (in a lesser extent) android?
Microsoft has a giant molehill to climb to get back into the mobile race. Much of that begins at standardization. While hardware is standardized, there is not a standard experience because both carrier OEMs continuously denigrate windows phone and force people to go to android. Will US carriers receive proper training to sell wp7 like they have been given for the apple iphone?

Two questions:

Direct Sync with Outlook and Zune? when?

How can we reformat micro SD cards that did not work in the Samsung Focus?

http://www.intomobile.com/2011/01/31/windows-phone-7-update/

We all know that the Microsoft WindowsPhone7 update should be coming soon and now we have a rumored landing date: February 7.
Of course, this date for the Windows Phone 7 update is just a rumor swirling around the Internet and it’s attributed to unnamed sources, so we have to take that for what it is.

I would take that as a rumor and not an offical word...I've read the same thing on a few sites all taged with rumor.

Edit: 5pm EST, I guess there is nothing going to be said today, Very disapointed as I was looking forward to info I read here but, could not confirm on any other site.

When will Verizon get a Windows 7 Phone.

I know this has been asked several times but with the number of people asking maybe they will understand how important this is to us.

I'm a business user and need Exchange, Word & Excel on my phone. I'm always cutting and pasting phone numbers from emails into the phone or just cllicking on the number to call a client.

Our company has a company that uses only MS software, IIS, SQL, IE, etc.

As a side note how about a real IPad competitor?

Lenny

Could you please ask him what this "big news release" was because it never happened and still has not happened ?

Was looking forward to it and it's a major disapointment that nothing ever came.

nice! I REALLY hope it is an announcement about a) the update being released and b) CDMA phones.

As Monday is the 7th (rumored day of release) then a Friday announcement sounds right

Most of the news sites are all saying Monday February 7th is when the News will drop along with the release or this is the "Internet Rumor" while others speculate that during the Mobile World Congress which is the 14-17. That would be cool if M$ did give you guys the news prior to it being released, however they don't typically do any of this without the official Press Release.

Re: Microsoft's Brandon Watson will be on the next PPCGP! Ask your Qs!

I actually like WP7 even though I can't get it on a decent carrier yet. I'm hoping we see something like the EVO or Focus for hardware on a CDMA carrier. Right now I only see the Pro - too bulky and small screen or the trophy - small screen - insufficient battery power for CDMA. Hopefully HTC or Samsung will step up to the plate with their A game soon for CDMA - otherwise I might as well just wait a few months for the iphone 5 on Verizon.

Re: Microsoft's Brandon Watson will be on the next PPCGP! Ask your Qs!

Laos101,

After reading and getting details, I really think these are the questions that we MUST have an answer for (if possable of course)

1. CDMA (Verizon and Sprint) phone availablity, a clear date, not just before June thing like they have said before. This is I think one of the most asked questions on this site (or at least crosses any WM fans mind)
2. Details about the next update, Copy and paste, perfomance and what other features. Also when it will officaly be released.
3. Flash support ? It was said it would come after release and it sounds like it was forgotten.

Thanks !

I wanna know when the Zune Music service is coming to Canada?
p.s. I would really like to see the on-screen controls from the Zune HD implemented on Windows phone....I loved being able to switch threw songs and volume with ease even with the device in my pocket.
