I'm beyond tired now, it's getting old waiting for Verizon to get a phone. I've been with verizon for 12-15 year now, even from the flip phone days, GSM would get new models, a year later there would be a CDMA version. Just wish GSM coverage was better (and AT&T had unlimited data), I would move and never look back. |

Everything is saying that Feb 7th will be the next WP7 update, this will give features (copy and Paste, etc) and CDMA support. Once this is out, it "should" be just a short matter of time before devices hit the CDMA market. Or it could be a date when CDMA models will hit, no one know for sure. We should know more tomorrow... |

All I hope is it's final and already in hands of OEMs who are building the phones as I post this(hope even more that it's in shipping or at the providers stock rooms). The news I expect tomorrow Copy&paste/CDMA update and(or) CDMA release dates. People have waited long enough, they need to give us a bone here... I think it would be worth attending this podcast, I know I'll be there... |

Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
CDMA is promised by the end of Quarter 2 of 2011.
Well, that is the latest news (posted on the homepage/news updates), The only other time we will see WMC on the Feb 12-14th. We should know SOMETHING by then. If they are still talking the end of Quarter 2 (June), I will be going Android or something else depending on what my insurance is offering me. |
Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
If it isn't until June - chances are I'll be going iphone 5 or whatever Android will be by then. If it does take until June for WP7 on CDMA I would say MS is probably going to drop WP7 like they did Kin. It is a shame because WP7 is actually pretty good despite MS's best effort to kill it.

Easily I can wait till June if 2-3 devices show up(not saying it is) but that would allow me choice and not just "here theres your damn 1 WP7(Hesse chucks it at my head), now leave us alone and let us sell android 4G." |
Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
I think we've all been waiting for a CDMA wp7 device...but it could be japan with the first CDMA device amazingly
CDMA Windows Phone 7 handset coming to Japan? interesting stuff I say let's hope we get a CDMA device first. |

this has an arrival date for sprint as "2/11" Sprint HTC 7 Pro Specs | Technical Specifications | PDAdb.net - Comprehensive Database of Smartphone, PDA, PDA Phone, PNA, netbook & Mobile Device Specifications

Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
I'll put my money on it not being available on Sprint on 2/11
|
Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
i'd take that bet if u wasn't right about it. sprint ain't in no hurry to release a wp7 phone their more focused on android to care about anything else ...

If you were running a company and one phone alone.. which happened to be an android phone.. single handedly helped you stop churn and actually turn a profit.. wouldnt you put more priority on that too? Or would you put more focus on an OS that isnt selling well and is going to put you right back in the "taking a chance" category? Sprint is a business... |
Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
The EVO has been good for sprint - they chose a very good piece of hardware - large screen, slim design. Unfortunately - they are probably going to pick a much lower end piece of hardware for WP7 as their first phone and they'll brilliantly conclude WP7 isn't selling well because of the OS not because Sprint went and selected a half assed model. Sprint execs - can't take much more of their addled brain decisions.

Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
For people waiting for a CDMA carrer news we are now waiting for next week for the Mobile World Congress !!!!!!! Feb 14th - 17th. It starts on Monday in Barcelona.
Everyone (company) to do with Mobile phones will be there. If we don't hear about Windows Phone 7 to a CDMA carrer here, I am going to Android and say screw it. Incase you don't know what it is.... Mobile World Congress | Global Conference Expo for Mobile Technology and Business Another show where I might die to go to (CES is the other).. Can't wait for this one...it sounds pretty epic... If you want to know ANYTHING about upcoming phones, this is the place. |
Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
Well I don't believe we should expect anything more from HTC than what they have shown us with Pro 7(Sprint) and Trophy(Verizon):
Brier Dudley's Blog | HTC exec on Nokia-Microsoft deal: Been there | Seattle Times Newspaper "Mackenzie said HTC will continue to produce Windows Phone 7 devices, despite the Nokia announcement. It won't be announcing any new Windows models next week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona but several will be announced later in the year." Samsung, LG, Dell are our only hope if there is more than one handsets on either CDMA carrier before June 30th... |

I'm personally not counting on HTC to give any news about CDMA, it's all in Samsung or LG (maybe even dell but, nothing showing CDMA so far), as the talked about GSM models to CDMA look better than HTCs offerings. Also, if you look over the list of companies attending, Verizon and Sprint is there, so maybe some news from them. Next week is the final show for me, by the end of the 17th(the end of MWC) if we do not have a solid date, I'm done waiting and moving to another type of phone (not the iPhone so it must be Android) and re-look at it in a few months when there are options. |
Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
Sometime in March ?
http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/14/w...upport-coming/ A quote from Engadget Though he wouldn't give an exact date, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer whittled down the availability window for the company's first big update to Windows Phone 7 at his keynote address to the crowds gathered at Mobile World Congress today. The latest message is that it'll be available in "early March," which puts us precious few weeks away -- more or less on track with what we'd been anticipating -- bringing support for CDMA radios, copy and paste, and performance improvements. Hopefully that clears the way for the 7 Pro on Sprint, eh? Eh, don't believe anything till I see an offical press release.. Edit: More updates but, with a "soon" more than a date... http://mobilitydigest.com/windows-ph...ates-from-mwc/ And a quote from the section of interest here... In addition, the phone will be available soon on U.S. networks such as Verizon and Sprint, he said. Also, with an expanded feature set, more capabilities, and new partnerships like the one just announced with Nokia, the Windows Phone 7 platform is positioned to scale up rapidly. I did not see a quote in any other site about CDMA... Take this all with a grain of salt... |
Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
I agree that their lack of CDMA info pushes me further down the iPhone 5 path. I actually like WP7 but if I can't get a good piece of hardware (i.e. NOT the WP7 pro) or on a carrier I can rely on (i.e. NOT ATT or Tmobile), my choice is pretty clear - Android or iPhone.
Their deal with Nokia isn't going to help me this year as both companies are too slow moving and I think in math terms that means you multiply their slowness, not add it. nodo patch coming in March which offers CDMA support probably doesn't mean we'll see any WP7 phones in March on CDMA. And if I'm going to have to wait this long, I might as well wait for the iPhone5. I don't think Jobs could have made such an impact on the market without the assistance of a doofus like Ballmer to make him look good. |
Re: So, what CDMA carrier will be first ???? (WP7)
cdma support fot wp7, along with copy/paste coming soon :), maybe the phones are right after....Windows Phone 7 update with copy and paste, CDMA support coming in 'early March' -- Engadget
edit: looks like david beat me to it lol! |
