WP7S: XBox Live Games
So the new Windows Phone 7 Series will support Xbox LIVE games..
Does that mean all 1676 games? How will they go from a button-heavy-controller to a buttonless phone? I'm not even a gammer (we have a Wii for the kids), but I can see how a rich game marketplace will be attractive and really give the WP7 the boost it needs to get going quickly.. -Matthew |

I dunno about 1676 games, especially since like you said, several if not most will utilize a lot of the controller. I'm expecting more basic games like card or board games to be available on the phone that integrate back to xbox live, hopefully to be able to play with people on the Xbox, I know one of the more popular XBLA games is Uno and that would be easy to do on a phone, or poker, or board games, whatever I just hope there is heavy integration there.

The Zune HD SDK (XNA) allows for xbox live play, at least has the objects.
If WP7 SDK is similar to Zune HD (which it should be) we're looking at a new era of phone gaming. The down side... Zune HD SDK doesn't support 3D objects in XNA, it was removed. Hopefully Microsoft gets those pieces in soon. |

I'm happy actually just knowing these phones will come with an HD radio tuner, at least the 7series that I'm getting :) |

The specturm that typical Wireless B/G uses is 2.401 - 2.495 GHz, which is an open and unlicensed spectrum and can be used by any device for wireless. The Xbox 360 controllers utilize a 2.4 GHz spectrum, however that one is closed and reserved for only their use via a spectrum license. Therefore, I do not see an easy way to get the Xbox 360 controllers to work with a Windows Phone 7 hardware device, as the spectrums will not match and therefore the devices will not see each other.
The Xbox 360 controllers can utilize a small USB wireless receiver for connectivity with a PC for gaming, but the USB receiver is known to draw a good deal of power and even if you could get it to work with a Windows Phone 7 device, it would likely draw too much power and drain the battery of the device very quickly. I think what they were talking about at MWC is a new line of mobile platform games that will allow users to play new and ported games on their phones; which will help increase their gamerscore and allow them to play with their current friends on XBL. Unless anyone here can convince me that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would actually run on a mobile device. Yeah, good luck with that. |

Are you guys telling me that Halo 2 will run on a WP7 ???? heh...lol. No, more simple games, that you can play on-line against other users, possably on xbox live on a 360 or PC.
I hope they can do almost like a 360 game...that would rule, I would not need to carry my PSP or DS on long trips any more...awsome |

it would probably be something similar to the apps for my ipod touch. i have call of duty and a few other games from xbox downloaded and some from playstation as well. the controls show up on the screen just like the actual controller. for non-touchscreen devices these games assign buttons on the phone for certain functions.

OnLive Integration > XBox Live..I mean if OnLive was possible on phone you can play Crysis at max detail on your phone >.>
That said these games can be played with virtual buttons..aka some games have action keys like: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 same as clicking them with a mouse..but that is a guess.. |
