After using 6.5, would you go back to 6.1 ?

The more I play with WinMo 6.5, the more I like it. The other day I had to get a "insurance replacement" phone, and that came with 6.1 on it. I played with it for about 3 hours and said to myself, how did I actually like this ? 3 hours and 5 min, I had 6.5 back on.

6.1 very hard to use with a finger, need the pen for most things, needed to use scrollbars for everything. WM 6.5 SOOOOO finger frendly from e-mail, contacts, home page, etc.

So, what is people's thoughts here, after using 6.5 for a few days to a week, would you go back to 6.1 ?

I can't go back because I LOVE 6.5....But I only had my phone for a few days before I flashed a 6.5 rom and never went back, so maybe I didn't give 6.1 a fair chance...We will never know though :)

I've been using WM devices from PocketPC 1.0 (yea, if you played with them way before PPC phones came out), it's aways been designed for a pen/stylus. Never really finger frendly.

Think of 6.1 like 6.5 but, you had scrol bars for everything, so no finger sliding...

I do love 6.5....Looking forward to what MS does with "7"

Guess I don't know what I am missing but I never left 6.1.
Works fine for me.
I don't mind using the stylus and with 6.5 it seems like you have to perform more clicks to do something, but it is probably just in the way you set it up.

I don't love 6.5 per se -- but I sure think it's an improvement. Don't see myself going back to 6.1, but I've been annoyed by quite a bit of bugginess with 6.5 ROMs on my kaiser.

nah, s2u2 never worked right for me, there was a long delay between phone ring and slide feature working, plus the slide to answer/ignore on win mobile 6.5 is much more attractive in my opinion and FAR faster and functional.

Sometimes I would get a call in s2u2 and when i slid to answer it would just be stuck in incoming call forever and I couldnt quit, had to soft reset many a time.

Which is why win mobiles bug-free slide to answer functionality is awesome

Re: After using 6.5, would you go back to 6.1 ?

there was a poll similar to this before and i voted 6.5, but after careful consideration I have stuck with 6.1 so far as my useable rom. Not to say 6.5 doesn't have some awesome improvements, it's just there is always some bug that makes me go soft resest, hold power and vol down, flash back to back up 6.1 img. 6.5 has been a cruel siren so far but I think she might come around in the next few builds.
Edit: reply to above ^ yeah the slider in 6.5 is the bomb it takes you directly to the alert. S2u2 is a good program though i usually disable it's call features

6.5 has been nothing but the best. i come a long history of 6.1 roms and i give thanks to DCD for all his hard work he put in, but i must say my hats off to ryan now. 6.5 rocks my socks off... i once heard 6.5 could shut up all the iphone users and there fancy interface, and i concur

I don't think s2u2 was the problem, likely adv.cfg, or diamondtwk.

anyway, I'd be happy with wm5.

I liked 6.1 with mobile shell running but with 6.5... no need for mobile shell. Its very finger friendly, customizable, and just looks better. Never looking back.

I think your response in that previous post was helpful, but did you need to throw in that d*ck head comment at the end?

6.5 Is awesome. I rarely have to go beyond the today screen and the start menu page to get things done. Access to almost everything on the phone withing 2 finger friendly pages is great. Plus if you use one of the themes that has things double spaced in the folders you hardly ever have to get the stylus out.

I was under the assumption that the double spaced folder menus we're built into the OS, I only started seeing them in the 23xxx builds and the themes for these builds had "the greys issue" so i stayed on Windows Mobile 6.5 RTM and what not, but i head 21921 has Start Menu Kinetic flick scrolling all the way to the bottom. Im still building a kitchen with 21921/21925 to test UI changes

I tried 6.5, and while I loved the new start menu & the backgrounds on the programs screen, I went back to 6.1. I got too bad of battery life on 6.5, was unimpressed by titanium, and some of my favorite apps wouldn't install properly. All I really miss is the program backgrounds, I wish that could be done on 6.1.

I gotta agree with the battery life issue, I'm just dealing with it for now and hoping someone fixes that soon. Maybe the "official" release of 6.5 will help cure the battery use issue (fingers crossed). I have also noticed that opera and PIE dont work consistently on 6.5 so I have fallen back to using Skyfire as my sole browser. What other apps have you noticed not working on 6.5?

I am tossed on this, because I like switching between the two. They each have their pro's and con.

Excuse me ? "Do some reading, it's not that hard..." is a d*ck head comment ? WOW, where do these people come from ?

A bunch of people are afraid to flash their phone, that is why I put that comment in. Also it's something that Mods on here talk about using all the time, 2 min with the search features on this site will find most answers.

Your comment was NOT HELPFUL at all. Thank you for waisting bandwith

Most of the ROMs from the chefs here that I've tried have the double spacing, but when I make a ROM using the PPC kitchen it comes out without it and I have to add a theme to get it. I'm not a pro ROM cook or anything though, I just use the built in options that are in the kitchen.

Re: After using 6.5, would you go back to 6.1 ?

I much more prefer WM6.5 over 6.1. TF3Dv2 is much more smooth then TF3Dv1, the menus are finger friendly, kinetic scrolling is a welcome addition, and the 23009, (RTM branch), has introduced start menu icon re-arranging by simply holding down on an icon for 2 seconds, and then dragging it to where you want it. I will likely never go back to WM6.1. After using WM6.5, I find WM6.1 to be as outdated as Windows 2000 compared to Windows 7.

I love 6.5. So slick and I love how the music player can be played on the titanium. My only complaint was it skewed my screen resolution when using my Touch Pro. I am sure that there is a fix, but I am going to blame my crappy refurb for right now.
