Cab
Ok well first off this might sound stupid, their should probably be a section with dumb questions like mine but I can't find an answer on my own. I know what Cab files are, I just dont know how to find them and delete them. I want to install a dialer on my Treo and dont know how to get ride of the existing Cab files to replace them with the new program. If I could get some help I would really appriciate it. Thanks

If you're trying to delete something that came "standard" with your phone you won't be able to delete them (they are part of the ROM...which is your "default" operating system).
What sort of dialer are you trying to install? The 700wx does not allow for a skinned dial pad if that's what you're trying to do. I would also be careful about randomly deleting files...that is a good way to set yourself up for a hard reset. Cabs are usually used for installing applications/programs and you're not going to find them in your device. late, Coz oh...and welcome to the board. |
Well a CAB file is basically an executable file for PPCs. So you don't delete a CAb file to uninstall it.
You'd run the CAB that installs de dialer, after the dialer is installed, then you can delete the CAB file (which will be wherever you downloaded it to). Now, if you want to install that dialer, you actually have to go to Settings - Remove Programs... basically like a regular PC. |
Thanks for the welcoming! I love the site here!
I havn't tried to delete anything, which is why I asked you guys before! I do have a Sprite back up on my memory card already though, just in case! :-) The program I was trying to install was at paulyA, in his Dialier skins. I thought it would work on mine cause he states it will work for PPC's. But I appriciate your help with everything. Also do you have a good link for a beginner tutorial for the PPC. I've had a 6700 and now the Treo 700wx and never truely explored the full functionality the phone has. (Also I'm pissed I had to do a insurance claim and got the treo now that the 6800 might be out soon). |
