PSP vs Pocket PC. why?

I am an owner of a psp and a ppc. From the first moment i got my vogue i have been troubled by this question: psp has 333MHz, 32mb RAM and yet most pocket pcs have 400+MHz, 64-128 RAM. So why is it that the psp games are so much better in every single aspect? Any thoughts, opinions, or any other information can be discussed here.

Uh... maybe b/c there are no drivers for the video chipset....

Basically this has been a big problem that just surfaced up recently.

Heres the first link I found.

And theres a bunch of threads on this forum about it too.

Right...

Still keep in mind, the PSP was "designed" to excel there but yeah Vip's right.

No reason to compare.

There's really no comparison between the two. The PSP is designed as a game system while it does many other things FAIRLY well. (ever try to browse online with it?)
Remember that the cpu is not the only factor in determining how well a piece of hardware handles games. The PSP has dedicated hardware to handle the strain of modern gaming, like a graphics chip for example, that PPCs don't.

Thank you for your replies, i was aware f the driver issue and i guess it will be long until there are some good games for ppc. And then again, there is many cool 3D MIDlet games that run on ppc

Check my topic on "Virtual soft keys java 3D)" you can find a download link there. ;)

Huh? Thats a java midlet manager. Im currently using the "intent Java Midlet manager" right now. And In your other thread you also talk about how you need to get the keys to work so you can play games... so how are you making any sense?

You said that you had some games that worked on the Touch, and you give me a link to that...

First is that PPC's have cumbersome controls compared to a PSP.
Second, the Video Driver issue kills serious 3D games on the Qualcomm.

And Finally.. The Developers... The Developers... The Developers...

As it currently stands all truly Great games by the big studios are going to stick with a Gaming system (Console, Hand-held) or PC because of the fore-mentioned issues. There are Some good games out there however.

Of the top of my head i can name HSpeedv5 which is a great game for vogue (nfs 2 feel), however, there are tons of other games but u need to try each one to see if u need the soft keys. I addressed you to the my other topic because i have noticed that you also own a mogul, and 3D java runs really nice on it considering the prescience of soft keys.

the ppc faces the same problems that face pc's the programmers of the games have to code a game for the lowest common denominator or a minimum spec. A pc developer cannot require its customers to have a $5000 SLI rig cause they would sell only a few thousand copies of their games. Sure they optimize their games to take advantage of the extra horsepower but they cannot really optimize the engine for a particular platform because they have no control over what components get put into a given box. The ppc is similar as there are different companies, cpu makers etc building these wonderful little devices but the performance from one to the next would be very great.

The truth is it comes down to money like everything else. If developers, hardware makers and carriers thought they could make a ton off a high performing gaming system type platform they would but all they have to go by is the terrible N-Gage. Until sony makes a psp/phone or maybe MS parlays their Danger acquisition into some kind of x-box sidekick we will probably have just decent graphics and performance compared to the handhelds that are out at that time.
