whooho! After reading about this some more I decided to give it another shot and call Verizon (*611). It took a bit of convincing, but they found the plan!

Info you'll need to help them find the plan: The add-on feature is actually a text messaging plan called 'PDATP'.
Tell them you know people are still getting this plan and in your state (I've read that it is only a north-eastern thing though), as well as the details of what this plan is supposed to include.

After adding reset the phone, then *228, option 1, restart phone, *228 again, option 2, restart. CSR said plan takes affect immediately...although I don't plan on using it much for the first month until I actually get my bill.


BTW, this was post was via 6700 keyboard.

SWEEEEEEEEEEET Thats amazing, because although I live in WA my number is still CT based aka North East so if I switch it out I'll still be able to get it thats great news. Thanks for the update!!

Did they by chance tell you how long it was going on for? I believe it is actually more of a texting package with data backing so you dont get charged for it as opposed to having it be internet with texts, but it any case I wonder when it will be over, did they have any issue putting it on your account at all? Or what was the convo like? I am just wondering bc like I said I want to swap out my 700 with another one but dont want to get screwed.

I don't have any idea about how long this will last. I do believe that people have been able to get this for almost 2 months or so now.

Convo:
Me: I'd like to add the PDATP texting package onto my plan. It is unlimited data with 800 text messages with 100 pix for $20 a month.
CSR: Well let me look that up for you. Hhhmmm, I can't seem to find it. It might be an old promotion and we don't offer it any more.
Me: Well I know that at least 20 people have gotten this package in the last month and a couple of them were from Michigan. (a treo site does actually have a very organized thread about this and who's gotten it and who hasn't)
CSR: okay, let me see. Alright, I found the package and am adding it to your account. Oh, hold on I've got an error message. ...Okay, let refresh and check your account...yup, looks like it is on your plan now.

Then the CSR just told me about the *228 stuff I posted previously.

Brilliant! It seems as though the key is asking for the pda texting package that has data included as opposed to an u.l data plan that has texting! And I believe the reason its NOT advertised anywhere is because its supposed to u.l data so people can send/receive pic.vid messages without incurring data charges and not tohave u.l data with some texts...that would make sense...well I have a new 700w on the way well kind of it should be here by mid next week so i'll switch my esn over then and we'll see how it goes, if anyone else can do this up let us know. Its about time we got decent rates!!!!
