No, The ##PRL send (##775 send) is the instructions for an Alltel phone to get into the PRL setting. The PRL that at this time is still 30029 for Alltel is the file that you need to update. You do not need a MSL on an Alltel phone it is still just 000000 (six zeros).

1x is 144Kbps max, roughly under 3x dial up at 56Kbps. There is virtually no noticeable difference until you get well over 500Kbps.

I am getting closer... I got in to the settings and entered the 30029 then tried 30031 and for both I got the error "Wite item "update PRL" error and then phone does a reboot. (EPST)

I used the #775 to get in and 000000 to unlock then edit PRL entered the number and hit OK and got the error. I have not done anything to the phone as of yet (as far as flashing or modding) I have the HTC Touch and a 2gig card

Officially the new PRL is being released on the 19th. Also *228 (option 2) to download it OTA. While the official stance is that you can only download it in an Alltel area, I have tried it in non-native areas and gotten the correct PRL, so you can try it in non-native coverage areas to see if it updates correctly.

OK I finally got the 30029 PRL loaded and still get 1x. I am thinking that Alltel is not getting any love from Verizon..

Tonight I spent 1hr in traffic that if the google maps could have loaded I would of went around... Ugh!@$%

This is what I did to get it loaded.

from Keypad I dialed ##775
Entered 000000 (6 zeros)
Used the stylist and pushed and held on the UPDATE PRL
then used the BROWSE and found the PRL of 30029 clicked and it loaded. ( downloaded it and place it on the SD card.
Hit OK when complete and did a reset.
I verified the PRL change and tries the net and got the 1x.

I need to see if I can find the 30031 that the Alltel rep told me about.

Thanks to everyones for the suggestions and links.

Also when you guys are posting ##prl and MSL# you mean this right?
If my PRL is 12345 and my MSL is 995954

So I would enter (alltel) ##12345 (send button) then a computer would ask for my unlock code I type in 000000 Now I hit MENU then EDIT (on my phones screen or over the phone line w/alltel?) Then I would enter the new PRL (30031 alltel)

No what they are saying is you need to dial ##775 send then on the epst screen enter the unlock code on the phone (000000) press ok, then on the screen tap on Update PRL and then select menu on the lower right corner and then edit. On the next screen hit browse and take it to the PRL file you saved which you can get from this link http://www.corolada.com/prl/ after that click ok, then ok again to reset device and thats it your done.

Re: Alltel is Limited???

Not sure why everyone is telling you the PRL is 30031 for your Touch. AFAIK 4xxxx is the correct series for your phone with the latest just coming out a couple of weeks ago being 40036. I use it on my ppc6800 and it roams on Sprint EVDO in Jax, Fl. for the first time with no problems. Looking at the maps looks like with this PRL you should be in good shape. Download it at www.corolada.com/prl then follow the ##775 instructions as before to manually load it. Good luck.
