just how much of a BEAT-DOWN have you been dishing out on your ppc?

so I had my phone sitting on my jacket in the passenger seat of my truck ... im a delivery guy. albeit I drive a 'bob-tail', the cab is pretty high up. so ... stopped at the gas station for some num-nums & cool drink ... walked around to the shotgun door ... grabed the jacket ... and YUP!, there goes my baby. I didn't curse ... yell ... ... .... nothing. I just stood there looking down at my phone, the battery, and battery cover ... all of wich are just laying there ... segregated , sad, and begging the question of me "why? why do you hate us so?" I responed in my heart, "...no, this really did hurt ME more than it hurt YOU." I can't believe that that the only damage (other than that sustained in my soul), was just a pair of scratches. so?! how bout YOU!? you been beating up your phone lately? are you a bully?

I was in the garage one time and had a clip holster holding my beloved Apache. I hit the button and then ran for the garage door to get out before it closed all the way. Last second I remembered to do a little bunny hop over the beam that makes the door open back up. My poor phone went flying out of the holster and slid all the way down the driveway, screen down. I was so sad, I just knew it was gone forever. Picked it up and it had just a small scratch on the top corner and the rubber nub on the D-pad was scuffed up. Other than that, no damage. Thank goodness for recessed screens!

This should be a pretty interesting thread. Here's mine...

I work at a carwash. One day at one of the locations I was walking through the tunnel while we were running cars. My phone vibrated so I reached into the holster to get it out and the phone slipped out of my hand. Usually when I drop it I try to 'cushion' the fall by using my foot to slow its decent instead of letting it full force into the tufco flooring. Well, instead of 'catching' it with my foot, I booted it into the wash. Luckily it wasn't the rinse or anything, just got some soap drops on it, still works like a champ!

I have had mine come off my belt clip twice - once with the whole "case" and once the snap was not shut and just the phone went flying. Both times the phone travelled about 6-8 feet in distance and hit concrete. The SD card popped out, battery cover popped off, battery out, keyboard open (both times). The second time one tab on the battery cover broke, but it still closes ok.

The first time this happened was day 1 with the phone. Not a pretty sight when everything appears to have exploded in front of you.

Phone is a little dinged on one corner, I had to trim a bit of the case where it was deformed, otherwise all is fine.

I dropped my old 6700 in a bloody mary once the screen turned bright white almost immediatly. Quickly I pulled the battery out and let it sit in the sun for the next day, it worked great after that!

Worst that happened with mine was on my motorcycle. Clip fell off at speed, and I ran over it with a 800 pound motorcycle. Screen, Keyboard, and Battery all scattered. Thank god for insurance.

Coming out of the club one night, phone goes off, its my girl... she's a lil' peeved i'm not home yet. We are going back n forth on the phone, im looking for my car, trying to find my car keys and not paying much attention where im walking till i suddenly hit an uneven curbside and go flying face first. By instinct i cushion my landing, phone in hand, pieces go flying everywhere. Well the phone still works, just i gave up protective cases

Moral of the story... don't use your ppc as an airbag!!

PS: My girl was super-pissed cos she thought i hung up on her

After spending $350 + add-ons and UNTOLD hours tinkering, I dropped my phone one day, thankfully to no loss or damage.

I did some research and came up with this:

Gotta say I love this case it is far less of a hassle than I imagined, and all those worries of leaning against something cracking the screen are gone!

I have been with nextel for years ... obviously, now I have sprint ... im not a sprinter because of the take-over, but because I switched completely. I wanted this phone. some may not know that even though they're the same company, they are two separate entities. one thing im happy to see stay the same with my new provider as it was with my old one is the insurance policy. as long as my data is backed up and secured, I've found myself in a place where im not even trippin anymore over my "precious". i'll just get a new one to tweek on ... and THAT is nice!

I can not stand the inevitability of the first drop, you know it is coming, but when. Every phone I have had I have dropped at least once, and now that I have a new Mogul (My 6700 was taken out by a tiny Lego) I am just waiting for the first drop. Maybe, just maybe if I keep thinking it is coming, it won't. But I highly doubt it.
